The weather's getting pretty extreme up in Northeast Wisconsin right about now, so it's a perfect time for a new batch of HD stations to keep you cozy inside the house. As of this moment, users in the region should see USA HD (536), SciFi HD (562) and Travel HD (570), while Golf HD (525) and Versus HD (526) are expected to split into two stations come Monday. Also of note, Fox Cities TV has dug up a legal notice that hints at a number of other high-def stations coming soon; among them are: FX HD, LMN HD, Weather HD, Cinemax HD, Starz HD, Bravo HD, CNBC HD, Speed HD and Planet Green HD. Who would've thunk that Kansas City, Missouri would end up being a hotbed for HD competition? With SureWest, Time Warner Cable and AT&T all vying for your hard-earned dollars, it's no shock to see the middle guy adding a little incentive to its package. As of now, customers in the area can catch MGM HD, CNBC HD, FX HD, Fox Business HD, College Sports TV HD, SciFi HD and a few "others" as described by our tipster. Ah, is it that time of year again already? Seems like just yesterday that we were kicking back in our sofa, wondering how the New Year would treat HD DVD and sipping a hot cocoa while enjoying the faux warmth of an HD Yule Log. This year, iN DEMAND's high-def version of the famed Christmas classic will be coming to HD VOD systems on Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. In addition, iN DEMAND has created two other holiday offerings for viewers to enjoy in Winter Green and Snowman, both of which were filmed with HD cameras and are to be presented in 1080i with 5.1-channel audio. The fun begins nationwide on December 8th; full release is after the break.

Whoa boy, this could get nasty. Cable giant Time Warner Cable has brought out the legal team against rival AT&T in Western Texas, where it alleges that the latter company "destroyed and misappropriated cable company equipment when it rolled out its U-verse video service." By way of "sheer acts of vandalism, trespass, conversion and misappropriation of Time Warner's property," TWC says that AT&T actually marred some of its network, though spokespeople for both outfits didn't really have anything juicy to say on the matter. Analysts in the space have been quick to point out that these type lawsuits have been common for the better part of a decade, and in 2006, AT&T actually sued Time Warner Cable as it alleged that "its technicians illegally damaged its network when hooking up phone customers in apartment buildings." Time Warner Cable came through on its promise to bring 14 new high-definition channels to Cincinnati, Ohio this month, so we don't see any reason why it'll let locals down in December. According to a blurb on the carrier's website, it is "currently involved in discussions" to bring a whole heap of new HD channels to Southwest Ohio. If agreements can be nailed down within the next few weeks, residents could see USA HD, Sci-Fi HD, MSNBC HD, Bravo HD, Science Channel HD, Animal Planet HD, ESPNews HD, FX HD, Weather Channel HD, Golf Channel HD, Versus HD, Big Ten Network HD, Cinemax HD and Starz HD. Slow and steady wins the race, or so they say, but we're pretty sure San Diego residents are ready for Time Warner Cable to hurry up with these HD rollouts. After dropping two in late October and promising to get 10 to 15 newcomers on the air over the next little while, TWC has just pushed out two more to keep locals appeased. Effective immediately, subscribers in San Diego can find Hallmark Movie Channel HD and Big Ten Network HD, but there's no indication of when the others will follow suit. Patience, friends.

With FiOS HD hittin' hot and heavy in the Big Apple, TWC is making moves to ensure that it stays at least competitive with Verizon. The latest channel update for three of the five NYC boroughs includes updates for Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, with Northern Manhattan getting a special helping. Remember those 11 high-def channels that Time Warner Cable owes North Texas? According to a report in the Dallas News, they'll be delivered by November 20th. In related news, the article also casually mentions that a full 17 to 19 even fresher HD channels will be unveiled "across the region" before the year's end. It's difficult to decipher whether that's to mean "the North Texas region" or "all of TWC's Texas markets," but if history is any indicator, we'd say the Dallas / San Antonio areas should be very well taken care of.

Time Warner Cable subscribers in Austin / Waco, Texas have long complained about getting the proverbial shaft on HD channels, and if you take a gander at lineups in the other major cities in the Lone Star state, it's easy to see the root of their frustrations. That being said, we can tell you that a lowly twosome is headed down the pike, with FOX News HD available right now and MGM HD coming on December 1st. Confirming that the plan for free Tuning Adapters isn't just for San Antonio, Time Warner Cable has posted a website for customers to sign up for info on when the boxes will be available in their region (like after the current tests are finished.) Of course, if this had been done prior to TWC changing some areas to switched digital video, cutting off CableCard users from certain channels, they probably could've avoided the whole FCC fine thing and gone straight to the "more HD capacity" part of the plan. Still, better's late than never as it follows Cox's lead, so if you plan on keeping to CableCard setup head over to Time Warner's official site to get on the list first. Hot on the heels of TWC announcing a new truckload of high-def channels for the Carolinas comes a similar announcement for Cincinnati, Ohio. According to a pamphlet being sent out to resident Time Warner Cable customers, 14 new ones are heading to the EPG by the year's end, with Palladia HD, Disney Channel HD, Discovery Channel HD, ABC Family HD, TLC HD, ESPNU HD, FOX News HD, Hallmark Movie Channel HD, CNN HD, WPTO HD (ThinkTV based in Oxford, OH) being added in November and Animal Planet HD, ESPNews HD, The Weather Channel HD and Science Channel HD in December. The HD party never stops for long in Albany, and just 1.5 short months since the last installment comes five more high-def stations to gawk at. Effective immediately, locals can tune into Bio HD (1826), Toon Disney HD (1831), MGM HD (1852), Hallmark Movie Channel HD (1861) and Tennis Channel HD (1868). With these additions factored in, the carrier now has over 100 HD and On Demand offerings in the Empire State's capital city, which ain't too shabby no matter how you slice it.

That will be number 57, according to the Observer, as Time Warner Cable follows up on last months additions with Fox News HD on channel 720. Jumping on the free HD tier just in time for the run up to the election, the high definition simulcast of standard Fox News coverage should please all those tuning in. Time Warner Cable has been beefing up its HD lineup in Columbus, Ohio slowly but surely, and yet again, residents are being spoon-fed another trio as they await a fantasmical high-def explosion (that may or may not ever come, sadly). At any rate, Food Network HD, Disney HD and Animal Planet HD were all lit up in the EPG this week, giving locals three more ways to split their HD viewing hours. Invigorating, no?

For those parked in beautiful Orange County, California and wondering if Time Warner Cable is thinking of you, trust us, we feel your pain. Thankfully, competition has pressured the carrier into opening its eyes a bit, as a recent interview with the president of OC's Time Warner Cable operations has given folks in the area something to look forward to. For starters, subscribers can soon expect faster internet speeds all around, with "Power Boost" taking underutilized capacity and giving it to those who need an extra burst to suck down a large file. Additionally, users will finally see Caller ID on their TV, and best of all, Fred Stefany admitted that HD was a priority and that most areas should have upwards of 50 high-def channels before 2009.
