New Meadowlands Stadium features four 103- by 30-foot HD screens

Daktronics has continued to outdo itself again and again since first coming on our radar with its massive Dolphin Stadium high definition scoreboard two years ago, but the company plans to make the New Meadowlands project, opening for the Giants and Jets in 2010, its biggest yet. The $45 million project includes four 103- by 30-foot screens at each corner of the stadium, ensuring Eli Manning can always see his open receivers even while spinning free of numerous would-be tacklers to throw a miracle pass that screws up our sure thing bet...but we digress. The four big screens, plus 28 other large screen displays located around the stadium use the LED-based HD-X technology already in use at other stadiums ensuring high contrast and wide viewing angles, although with that many it's probably not necessary. After the Yankees, Mets and now both football teams we suppose the Nets are just waiting to secure Lebron in '10 before announcing the court will be replaced with an HDTV.

Hardcore Giants fan opts for HDTV over trip to Super Bowl XLII

We've polled you fine folks before to get your take on whether sporting events are better seen live and in person or on an HDTV, and while responses tend to vary, one particular Giants fan recently made the decision to enjoy Super Bowl XLII from the comfort of his own home rather than jetting down to Arizona with a pocketful of Benjamins. Said fan has yet to miss a New York Giants home game in 17 years, but after mulling it over with his better half, they collectively decided to plunk down two large on a new Samsung and made plans to host a sure-to-be-riveting party. Of course, judging by recent HDTV sales and home theater installations in the New York region alone, it's pretty safe to say that they aren't the only ones making this choice. Our only concern is that the fan somehow believes his TV purchase will last (read: not be replaced) "for 15 years" -- something tells us he was misinformed.

Giants show off eco-friendly HD mega-scoreboard

These HD mega-scoreboards are becoming commonplace, but who cares! They're still sweet. Next up is San Fransisco Giants and their 3 million dollar 31 1/2 feet high by 103 feet wide screen made by Mitsubishi Electric Diamond Vision - same peeps that did up the HD screen at that horse track in Japan BTW. Plus, in good 'ol San Fransisco style, this scoreboard is comprised of 3 million low power LEDs and the stadium's power consumption is supplemented by hundreds of solar panels. There are hundreds of flat panels scattered around the park, plus more are going in the dugout seating section making this one high-def loving stadium.
