All DISH customers with 5 new national HD channels step forward -- not so fast Turbo HD subs

No sooner did DISH Network light up HD feeds for Speed, FX, Fashion TV, Logo and MavTV (as promised) than we started receiving complaints from left-out feeling Turbo HD package subscribers. It appears that being all-high definition with your channel choices means no Speed or FX for you, while the others are on the $10 extra Platinum package. Still, for those on the Classic Silver 200 package and above there's plenty of NASCAR practices, widescreen F1 and Rescue Me enjoyment to be had. DISH is still holding itself out as the HD leader with a claimed 140+ national channels (MSNBC HD confirmed launching in June) but with a price hike failing to gain access to the latest channel lineup additions we're sure there's at least a few customers with differing opinions.

Comcast adding FX HD and SPEED HD to lineups

Apparently working out the details on the Big Ten Network squabble was just the beginning, since Comcast and Fox Cable Networks recently worked out a deal to add FX HD and SPEED HD. Already live in Chicago and in Pennsylvania, Multichannel News says the rollout should pick up momentum in the fourth quarter, with both 720p channels sliding onto HD basic tiers, so there shouldn't be much question whether you'll have it or not. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Wrecked and daily motorsports action in high definition will surely find a welcome place in many TV watching schedules.

Sky HD adding three new HDTV channels for a total of 17

With its troubles in the past, Sky is ramping up its HD service, with plans to add three new stations soon for a total of 17 HD channels. Viewers can expect Sky Sports HD 3, Sky Movies Premiere HD and FX HD. Sky Sports HD 3 will kick off with Monday Night Raw in March and the PGA European Tour, while FX HD is a "bespoke" custom channel, Sky Movies Premiere is a simulcast of the SD channel. Sky says its signed up more than 400,000 subscribers since launch, and once these channels are added, they'll have access to 6,500 hours of HD programming per month. We know it was rough for a while, any Sky HD users out there got a report about the service these days?

ATMC Cable adds Speed HD and FX HD, promises more soon

For those situated any distance from Shallotte, North Carolina, you probably won't be familiar with ATMC Cable, but for those few subscribers out there, we've excellent news. Recently, your cable carrier has added Speed HD and FX HD on channels 923 and 922, respectively, to its high-definition lineup, resulting in a grand total of 24 at the moment. Best of all, we're hearing that PBS HD, Discovery HD, Discovery Science HD, TLC HD and Animal Planet HD are all slated to join the crowd "soon," but unfortunately, that's as detailed as it gets.

Another week, another 10 new HD channels for DirecTV

Fox Business HD
This is a trend we can't ever get sick of talking about as DirecTV has now added new HD channels every week for the past four weeks. Up this week is a few more channels new to everyone as well as four regional sports networks. We'd bet DirecTV pushed up their normal Wednesday release for Fox Business HD, which happened to launch today. These bring the total new HD channels up to 47 in the past month. There are a few surprises here since Speed HD wasn't expected till next year, but a few we'd expected including, FX HD and Cartoon Network HD. Fox Business is a lot like CNBC HD, but the studio shots are actually in HD, so far it's the only HD we've seen on any of the channels in this batch, but there isn't usually a lot of HD programming on in the morning. Be sure to check out our updated gallery.

  1. Fox Business Network (359)
  2. HGTV HD (229-1)
  3. FX HD (248)
  4. Speed Network HD (607)
  5. Fuel HD (612)
  6. The Cartoon Network (296)
