Discovery's Sunrise Earth: Seaside Collection on Blu-ray June 11th

Can't get enough Sunrise Earth? Fantastic. Discovery has just announced that it will be bringing its Sunrise Earth: Seaside Collection to both DVD and Blu-ray on June 11th, and judging by the sound of things, it looks to be a real winner for showing off the capabilities of your setup. Focusing on sunrises above crystal clear bodies of water, you'll find scenes from Maine's Acadia National Park, Australia's Great Barrier Reef, Polynesia, Costa Rica, Turkey's coastline, California's Point Reyes National Seashore, Ninagiak Island and a couple more locales for good measure. Of course, submersing yourself in such grandeur won't run you cheap, as the BD version will ring up at $59.95, while the lowly four-disc DVD set can be had for $10 less.

Sunrise Earth Viewer's Choice Edition Part Deux

It's that time of year again, Sunrise Earth is asking its viewers what they'd like to see first thing in the morning. With BD Live-compatible Blu-ray players, piles of cash and supermodels out of the question, we can choose from ten possible sunrises, which will be whittled down to five episodes broadcast in the third quarter of this year. Each locale represents a vast improvement over our brick wall-facing window so we're not picky, but take a look at the list after the break then hop over to Discovery and tell them what you want to see.

Discovery HD's Sunrise Earth: Viewers Choice Edition

We don't get out much, so Discovery HD Theater's Sunrise Earth is one of the best ways to connect with the outside world. The show makes it easy to wake up at 7 a.m. and catch a sunrise over a stunning vista instead of an annoying clouded-over glare reflected on an LCD monitor. This year, they've decided to let viewers submit suggestions on what locations to shoot. If you think the world must see sun come up in 1080i over one particular spot that only you know about, check out MyPerfectSunriseEarth.com for info on how to submit it, for a list that will be whittled to 20 locations. Those 20 will be narrowed down to five by a viewer vote, and someone will win a trip to one of them to shoot their own sunrise alongside the show's producer.

HDTV Listings for October 21, 2006

What we're watching: The World Series is on, and most other regularly scheduled network programming is taking the night off as a result. While Fox features the Tigers vs. Cardinals, ABC is airing Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets while CBS has The Bourne Identity. Georgia Tech vs. Clemson should be a good matchup on ESPN-HD, or you can just chill out and catch Sunrise Earth: Total Eclipse on Discovery HD Theater.
