From the word go, amateurs and professionals alike were hot for RED's (relatively) minuscule Scarlet. After all, can you really go wrong with a 3K camera in one hand and a Dairy Queen dipped cone in the other? (No, no you cannot.) Nevertheless, those anxious to see more as the run-up to its early 2009 release continues can feast their eyes on an all new rendering. We already received confirmation that Sky would be freshening up its universally frowned upon EPG with something a bit sweeter, and now UKers are getting a first look at what to expect. Reportedly, the new guide will be entirely in HD and launched in August -- unfortunately, the image above may be the only tease you get (from Sky, anyway) all summer.

In case you've haven't seen enough of Panny's VIERA side lately, here comes another fresh face: the FreeSat-enabled TH42PZ81 plasma. Particularly for those who call the UK home, you've likely heard that model number before, but according to Tech Radar, 46- and 50-inch versions are landing in July with FreeSat tuners built right in. Other specs include a 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, V-Real Pro 3 Processor and an obligatory EPG that was said to get the job done without a lot of glitz. Based on early reports, we're hearing that BBC HD looked astounding on the set, while SD images seemed fairly ghastly after seeing content in glorious high-def. Sadly, mum's the word on pricing at the moment, but those with an aging HDTV may just want to hold off on picking up that standalone set-top-box -- if you catch our drift.

Sure, TiVo on Comcast has been available in the New England area for a short while now, but for most of the nation, they've no idea just how Comcastic (or not) the new setup is. Fret not, as a kindhearted Bostonian has gone well above the call of duty and provided us with no fewer than 46 snapshots of the interface and remote. Granted, there aren't too many surprises or anything, but do yourself a favor and check out the gallery below while you wait for the service to finally bleed out from the Northeast.

Universal Remote's company name leaves little unsaid about what its core competencies truly are, and its latest professional-series remote recently got a bit of hands-on time with the crowd at Electronic House. The MX-810 Pro Wizard was purportedly designed to work with setups ranging from a single room to an entire home, and sports a color LCD, 44 hard buttons, RF / infrared compatibility, rechargeable Li-ion, and hot keys for powering up select groups of components. Interestingly, this unit also includes 32MB of built-in memory to store commands that control "up to 24 activities for each of 24 different devices programmed into eight LCD pages." Of course, this also means that you'll need at least a week of vacation to actually program this $399 gizmo once it hits your doorstep in July.

Whoa, that was quick. The story of LG's BH100 has moved from myth to reality quicker than some companies can even craft a marketing campaign, and astoundingly enough, the hybrid HD DVD / Blu-ray player has not only been captured on camera, but it's available for sale. You read right, LG's $1,199 harmony machine is apparently already leaking into a few CompUSA locations, and although we didn't know how its inability to play back HDi would effect the release status, we're now seeing that it beat the February 4th presumptions by a solid two weeks, and although it clearly lacks an "official" HD DVD logo, it seemed to handle The Hulk just fine. So if you just can't hold back your desire for a two-faced player any longer, and can track down a stocked CompUSA location, you can pick up your very own BH100 starting today.
