Cablevision iO TV adding 30, or 8, new HD channels

Cablevision is back at it again, forcing us out of the weekly update by dropping 30 new HD channels on Bronx and Brooklyn area customers, while all other areas should have 8 new channels to enjoy as of the 24th. Despite being a clearly shameless bid to replace RCN as the official service providers of Lord Tariq & Peter Gunz, we can find little wrong with these additions, thanks goes to SatteliteGuys.us for the list of channels.

NSR forecasts 900 HD channels via satellite by 2012

Granted, we've heard certain carriers make some fairly lofty claims about HD capacity in the past, but a new study carried out by international market research and consulting firm NSR is putting everyone to shame. According to new research covering the "entire commercial satellite transponder leasing sector," it's suggested that around 900 high-definition and 9,500 standard-definition channels will be accessible via satellite by 2012. 'Course, its actual estimates for reaching those figures are already running behind, but to be frank, we'd be stoked to have even a third of that number readily available in just four years. We wouldn't go taking these hunches without a helping of salt, however, as we know all too well just how awry these estimations can go.

Tangerine Global launches five new HD channels for hotels

Travelers looking for only the finest amenities when globetrotting should phone up any prospective hotels and ask if they carry the Tangerine Global lineup, as it just got five channels deeper and a whole lot more enticing. Apparently aiming at five-star locales that sport high-definition televisions in the guest rooms, these new alternatives could potentially spruce up your late night viewing if you're interested in the less-than-mainstream. Tangerine Green HD, Alive HD, Palate HD, Drive HD, and Adorn HD each present unique, niche content that touch fancies such as technology, health, food, vehicles, and style. If those Independence Day plans are still up in the air, be sure you find yourself in a Mandarin Oriental or Peninsula hotel (among others) -- just make sure you leave the room every now and then, cool?
