All live 2008 NCAA Football games on ABC / ESPN networks to air in HD

Not that we're trying to rush the summer away or anything, but August can't get here soon enough. Shortly after hearing that CBS would be producing every single NFL game in high-definition, in flies word that all live 2008 NCAA College Football games shown on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN U will also be available in glorious HD. Granted, there's a shot you won't even have those four networks in HD before the season begins, but at least your local watering hole will. For a look at the current schedule (which is far from complete), check out the goods in the read link. Rest assured, we'll be geared up for the network opener (August 28, 8:00PM on ESPN HD) as NC State shows South Carolina how it's done down at Williams-Brice Stadium.

ESPN makes known Euro 2008 broadcast schedule

For folks across the pond, catching all 31 UEFA Euro 2008 matches in high-def shouldn't be an issue, and thanks to ESPN / ABC, doing so here in the US won't be either -- well, almost. The network(s) have just released their broadcast schedules for Euro 2008, which is schedule to start on June 7th (ESPN Classic) and conclude on June 29th (ABC HD). Out of the 31 total tilts, 26 of 'em will be readily available on either ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD or ABC HD, and all but the two ABC matchups will also be available via ESPN360. Who says there's no good football in June?

ESPN's HD plans for 2008 Masters Tournament coverage

Golf's Masters Tournament starts April 10, and (along with DirecTV's enhanced coverage) ESPN has big plans for its first year covering the two opening days of competition. Live coverage each day from 4-7 p.m. on ESPN HD is in the works, as well as re-airs from 8-11 p.m., and live HD streaming on ESPN360.com of all Masters telecasts. Live streaming from the "Amen Corner" (holes 11, 12, and 13 for the uninitiated), Holes 15 and 16, and Masters Extra will be up on Masters.org. Finally, for those who can't wait until Thursday for their green jacket fix - the never-before-televised Par 3 Contest on Wednesday April 9 featuring players, retired past champs and honorary invitees will be on ESPN HD and ESPN360.com from 3-5 p.m.

ESPN-HD adds 5.1 to SportsCenter

ESPN SportsCenterFolks all over the country got their daily fix of ESPN's SportsCenter in Digital Dolby 5.1 sound tonight via ESPN-HD; well, almost all over the country. It appears that the DIRECTV folks were caught napping because Dish Network as well as Comcast cable subscribers got the 5.1, while DIRECTV customers still have the oh-so-1980 dual channel stereo feed. Was this Dish's way of flipping the HD bird to DIRECTV for the MPEG-4 rollout that DIRECTV is leading in? Anywho, there's an NCAA basketball game between Indiana and Iowa on ESPN HD at 9 p.m., so if you tune in and hear stupendous surround sound from five channels, drop us note will ya?

Thanks for the tip, Ben!
