DirecTV lights up 24/7 HD for CSN New England

Even DirecTV didn't have too much to say on this one, but as of today, its subscribers can catch the 24/7 high-definition version of CSN New England (also known as Comcast SportsNet New England) on channel number 630. The highlight of the add? More of those defending NBA champions in glorious HD.

Comcast SportsNet delivers every Flyers, Sixers and Phillies game in HD

Shortly after hearing that Comcast SportsNet would be broadcasting an awful lot of Washington Capitals in HD this upcoming season, along comes this. Philadelphia residents should be in high-def heaven for the foreseeable future, being that Comcast SportsNet has just vowed to deliver "all Flyers, Sixers and Phillies games -- home and away, regular season and playoff -- in high-definition for the first time." Fans will also be treated to high-def versions of pre- and post-game shows, and if you're interested in some exact figures, you'll see 64 Flyers and 69 Sixers games, all in high definition, beginning with the Saturday, October 11 Flyers vs. New York Rangers tilt and the Wednesday, October 29 Sixers vs. Toronto Raptors matchup.

Washington Capitals net more HD time on Comcast SportsNet

It's just about that time, hockey fans, and for those of you who proudly rock an oversized Caps jersey each and every Friday to work, we've some excellent news to share. 73 Washington Capitals games will be televised by Comcast SportsNet during the 2008 - 2009 season, and a full 50 of those will be aired in high-definition. The team's season starts on October 10th at Atlanta, and the following night will see the home opener shown in high-def when Chicago comes to the District. Sure, the NHL may not have the same following as say, the NFL, but this is definitely a trend we could stand to see catch on.

Washington Mystics to get four HD games on Comcast SportsNet

While the NBA Playoffs are likely keeping your eyes off of too much else right now, those who dig the ladies' game can look forward to seeing a few tilts in high-definition later this summer. Comcast SportsNet has announced that five Washington Mystics games will be broadcast on it, with four of those being in HD. Each game will be shown during July, which is set to be labeled "Mystics Month" on the channel. Take a look in the read link for the full schedule (on this particular network), and go on and pencil in July 8th at 7:00PM as the first matchup in high-def.

FSN Bay Area re-launching as Comcast SportsNet Bay Area

While FSN New York became MSG Plus over on the east coast, it looks as if the Bay Area flavor of FSN will be keeping the balance in tact here on the left coast. Effective March 31st, FSN Bay Area will be known as Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, and in celebration, a special pre-game ceremony will be aired on said channel to showcase the new outfield signs at McAfee Coliseum on April 1st. The Pregame Live show will commence just 30 minutes prior to the first of 70 Oakland A's games that will be aired on Comcast SportsNet Bay Area, and for those not up to speed on schedules, it'll be a home opener against the 2007 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. Comcast SportsNet Northwest hits Oregon FiOS TV, HD coming soon

Although FiOS TV just landed in Oregon last month, early adopters in the area will be thrilled to know that Comcast SportsNet Northwest will now be included in the lineup. More specifically, users in the "greater Portland area" will have access to the aforementioned station on channel 66 within the Premier programming package. Regrettably, those Trail Blazers, Ducks, Beavers and Huskies won't be comin' atcha in high-definition until "later this year," but hey, at least you've got something to look forward to, right?
