The best HD sports on TV this week

Celtics vs Cavaliers
It is very fitting that on a week with not many great football matchups, that the NBA would be kicking off the regular season. It isn't that we're big basketball fans, it is just that we wanted to put up a baseball image and all the ones we could find were boring -- just like the sport itself. But we would like to recognize that for big sports fans, this is the very best time of the year. The time of year when all four of the big sports in the US are all on at the same time. Of course this only lasts for about two weeks because baseball season just can't ever end, but if you can't get enough HD sports, enjoy the following weeks while you can.

College Football Kickoff 2007 in HD

NCAA FootballOhh my, we can hardly wait! Football season kicks off tomorrow -- no, the real games are on now, no more practice. It's going to be more difficult than ever before for us to get off the couch and go outside because the number of games getting the HD treatment is so much more than ever before. It was only a year ago that we were excited because the opening weekend to NCAA Div-1A football brought us 13 HD games, but this year there are almost double that, with a total of 22 HD games from the kickoff Thursday, to the Bowden Bowl on Monday night. Unfortunately, for die hard fans there are more games than you can possibly watch -- but that's a good thing right? -- assuming you can even access all the games, 'cause some are regional, while others are on channels that your provider might not offer. Regardless, sit back and enjoy, as we look forward to the big boys kicking off the NFL in another week, and if you need to know if your big game is on in HD, head over to HDSportsguide.com for the full lineup.

ABC HD College Football Regional Coverage Maps

ABC College Football Regional map
We're more excited than anyone that ABC started to cover college football games in our favorite format. One of the reasons it took so long was because of all the regional football games ABC covers. Regional games are by definition not covered nationaly so how is everyone supposed to know which games they will be able to watch? Our friends over at HDSportsguide.com have us covered and have posted maps and now we know which games we can expect to see in HD on Saturday.

2006 College Football HD Schedule

It's that time of year again and this will be the best yet for HD College Football fans. It seems that almost everyone will be stepping up this year. ABC is finally presenting their premier Saturday night game in HD this year, don't get us wrong we're happy, but we still wonder what took so long? It appears that all of ESPN's college football games are in HD this season, CBS is still doing their SEC Games of the Week and NBC is covering the Notre Dame home games in HD. There are even some rumors that FSN might have a HD game or two up their sleeves. Of course we have also come to expect at least a few Navy games from HD.net

ESPN kicks off the season this Thursday with Boston College Eagles vs. Central Michigan Chippewas and the next five days brings us 13 games in HD! Wow 13 games in 5 days, that is more than we had in the entire 2004 season! The last of those is the FSU vs. Miami on ESPN.

As always you can get the latest HD College football schedule at HDSportsguide.com, now if they would just make a Goggle calendar available like ours.

ABC adds Saturday Night CFB in HD

ABC College FootballIn an announcement that has us saying ABOUT TIME, ABC is going to start presenting their prime-time CFB games on Saturday nights in our favorite format. Well maybe not our favorite, but no one does 1080p.

It appears that ESPN is going to continue to produce two games in HD on Saturday nights so that brings the total up to 3 HD games on at once which gives you a selection.

In the past Saturday night college football on ABC has been the premier venue for the greatest match-ups in college football and college football fans everywhere have had to suffer through SD. Now if they would also produce the other BIG games in HD we would be all set, while they are at it make all the games HD.

Only 4 more months to go!
