Sep 8th 2007 9:14PM It seems everyone wants the Vista, but I can honestly say I need it. Not only will it save my computer (its either that or a reformatting...and with the number of customizations I have, that's a whole lot of nasty business), it will actually help me stay on track with my home business. I make a very meager supplemental income doing PC and home theatre work on the side, and I'm getting a startling spike of Vista support requests...which I can't do much to help with. Although my XP skills are well enough to carry me on to then next generation of Operating Systems with the basics, without having Vista for my own personal use I can't actually grasp what it is I need to do to offer the best solution to my customers. If I am selected to win...please, I very much want Vista, and need it if I'm going to be able to continue adding anything to my $500/month income at all.

Third generation HD DVD players on October 1st? {Engadget HD}
Aug 2nd 2007 3:27PM HD-DVD drives, used, at Gamestop stores are incredibly inexpensive. I don't need an X-Box to use them and my PC and monitor are both HD capable...
BUT BUT BUT, cheap as it is, I know if I buy it and some movies to go with, I know that despite the price I'm going to be stuck with it after the format war is over and Blu-Ray wins. Consumers are smarter now than they were back in the 80s.

The Engadget Interview: Sean McCarthy, CEO of Steorn {Engadget}
Jul 18th 2007 12:58AM Clearly, it runs on magnets.
Most people haven't rebutted in a way that explains, however, just WHY That'll never work.
It's simple: Magnets have a finite lifespan. Ever have a fridge magnet fall off your fridge? It's one of those things an alarming level of people miss...sort of like looking up and seeing that the moon is out during the day.
If this thing seems perpetual, chances are that it's chewing up a lot of the stored energy in the magnets, and that the magnets themselves have experienced failure.
There's no 'free' energy. The magnets are the batteries, and they will simply die. Too bad this guy doesn't seem to notice.
