Uncharted 2 getting title update, Halloween festivities {Joystiq}

Oct 30th 2009 3:20PM @tmac - I feel you on that. I usually do quick sprays of bullets using an automatic rifle and the handguns always win. Basically any of the online modes are quick draw fights with pistols!

PSA: Buy 2 games, get 1 free at Toys R Us this week {Joystiq}

Oct 13th 2009 12:59PM @tmac - don't be a dick... just get gift receipts and exchange the games at Toys R Us when the ones you want come out. You have 45 days which puts you in time for most of the good games coming out in the next month and a half. What you're doing is fraud and if caught can land you jail time.

@kentuckyfried - I was there just today and they had lots of M games... they just have a huge ass label on them stating so. Just make sure you're over 17 when you buy them.

Thanks to Atlanta for the great reader meetup {Engadget HD}

Sep 17th 2009 9:57AM Woo, Go Jackets! Wish I could have been there, but fortunately I got a job out of state after I graduated back in May.

Engadget HD giveaway: win a copy of Coraline on Blu-ray! {Engadget HD}

Jul 20th 2009 4:55PM This movie was definitely very cute! I'd love to own it on blu-ray!

Wiimote controls giant claw, brings man and machine closer {Joystiq}

Jul 10th 2009 10:03AM Correction: change the word "feedback" to "input". The feedback would be from sensors on the pneumatic pumps which would allow for a better, more accurate reflection of the user input.

Wiimote controls giant claw, brings man and machine closer {Joystiq}

Jul 10th 2009 9:59AM I'm a controls engineer, this is definitely a simple hack if you know how the accelerometers return info to your computer assuming the claw is controlled electronically and not mechanically.

Odds are though, this thing was controlled with a couple joysticks in the first place which will return values similar to that of the wiimote and all the engineer had to do was switch the feedback device to the wiimote. Depending on how well written the control engineer's software was written in the first place, this could implemented in a few hours of coding and debugging.

Left 4 Dead 2 will last 'much longer' as a platform {Joystiq}

Jun 3rd 2009 1:17PM I think ya'll are missing the point of J Snaz'es football quote... my impression is that he likes the games ya'll like, but his friends are a bunch of brain dead jocks who play madden all day while drinking.

He on the other hand, turned to the Xbox Live community to get his zombie killing on and there isn't much of a community to be found for L4D. There are 3 X360s in my house and I'm the only one who plays L4D but when I was in college, I had more friends who played. Fortunately, I can still play L4D against them even though I'm 900 miles away.

We can all pick our friends, but honestly, I'm not going to go around on a Friday or Saturday night asking everyone I meet while out do dinner or at a Brewers game if they play L4D and make my friends that way, nor will I even talk about video games with my coworkers since most of them are 40+ and save that sort of activity for their kids.

DirecTV CEO rumored heading back to News Corp {Engadget HD}

Jun 2nd 2009 1:30PM Well this will be fantastic... first AT&T screws up my service with Cingular, now they can do it with my DirecTV service... The only good thing I can say about them is their DSL and even then, they keep jacking up the price to be similar to cable but at only half the speed. It used to be nice when I could pay $25 for a 6mbps connection, but now it's almost $40 and I can't get anything faster!

Study finds that Lockheed Martin needs to stop disposing of hard drives with top secret data intact {Engadget}

May 7th 2009 5:35PM @Platinum_Skeet - I graduated from GT and worked for their alumni association. Both the people who I talked to who worked there and my friends who were hired there out of college really aren't the brightest people in the world. Sure they can do some pretty complicated problems, but most of the old people don't like computers and the new generation feel they don't have the time to care and figure the company would take care of it.

You don't have to be smart to get a defense project, you just have to like making things that go BOOM!

Analyst rabble-rousing: 'Chatter' suggests Apple eyeing EA takeover {Joystiq}

May 5th 2009 1:17PM Did you simply just google that and think you have some sort of business law degree?

If what you are claiming is true, any exclusive game developed by Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft, or the iPhone is illegal if they aren't created as first party games. So I guess Retro, which was started as a 2nd-party developer exclusively for Nintendo, which has now been fully obtained by Nintendo is illegal.

Apple would be buying the intellectual property of EA and they can do whatever they want with it as long as they don't overcharge other console owners for their games to encourage everyone to buy an iConsole. If they decide to only develope games for the iConsole, they have done nothing wrong, except lose money since they would be no longer developing games for an already well established market.

In other words, Microsoft spent time making an office suite for the Mac which is inferior the the Windows version because they could make money. If you don't think this is true, then why the hell haven't they been forced to make a version for Linux which has a rapidly growing userbase; the simple answer: there isn't a market for it since things like OpenOffice are more then enough for those users who are using Linux to save money.
