Verizon nabs the Blitz: someone has thought of the children {Engadget}

Aug 25th 2008 10:34AM I don't understand this marketing to "tweens"....to me that thing looks like a little tykes play thing a 3 year old would be happy with....I have two 9-year olds and a 12-year old....there is no way in the world they would want this over say, an ENV2...also, let me add that the stereotype of kids with electronics, specifically cell/smartphones, being spoiled brats is ignorant. Are there spoiled kids with iPhones, you bet. But there were spoiled kids before cell phones ever existed, and there exists a bunch of kids with nothing, that are more bitter, nasty, and ungrateful than those that have. At the levels of accessibility now a days, these devices are commodities more than elite status symbols... IMO, raise your kids right and reward them with what you can and what you feel they deserve.

Drobo (second-gen) mini-review {Engadget}

Jul 8th 2008 11:43AM One thing I don't hear a lot of folks touch on is the SDK that was released. I think that's significant. Depending on the level of adaptation this thing gets, there could be a lot of interesting plays on this.

I wish I was a developer, but I'm not. I know I'll get killed for this, but personally I'd love a Zune Server on this.

Also, the DroboShare seems to share 2 Drobo units. If I understand it right, it's more than just a simple NIC, but also an expansion back-plane.

Verizon CEO hates on Steve Jobs, doesn't see iPhone as a mass-market handset {Engadget Mobile}

Jul 1st 2008 11:13AM I think this is huge regret being masked....Big Red had their chance on the iPhone and decided not to play....now I think they regret it and are reaching to come up with self justification for that move....

Jun 3rd 2008 8:02AM So tell me....how appropriate are these as a kids 1st laptop? For, say ages 9-13?

Zune shows up at Canadian retailer on schedule for June release {Engadget}

May 23rd 2008 12:08PM I too am a Zune fan.....To me the sound quality of the Zune is far superior than the iPod....my wife owns the 8G iPod....my 2 sons each own the 8G Zune and I have the 80G Zune....comparing the sound back to back, it's unanimous....Zune wins every time.

Also, a lot of high-end audiophile gear do not include an EQ....the focus is in reproducing the sound in the purest, most accurate way so it's heard the way the producer intended it to be heard. EQs are really intended to compensate for poor equipment in the chain....

I'm not suggesting the Zune is a high-end audiophile player, btw....

Also, compare the interfaces, and the iPod looks and feels like it's outdated by 5 years...IMO

AT&T closing in on completion of HSUPA upgrade {Engadget Mobile}

May 23rd 2008 9:00AM yeah I'm with you....I'm in SW Florida and south of St. Pete there is no AT&T 3G coverage.....in fact, AT&T coverage is pretty abysmal all around here. I would love an alternative to big red, but for data hungry folks like me, it's difficult here.....

Cradlepoint announces 3G-ready CTR500 travel router {Engadget}

May 15th 2008 3:29PM eh....i think these devices will become more relevant when 4G arrives....I'm stingy with my bandwidth as it is......3G isn't fast enough for me, so I'm not really looking to share it....

Nice to see it out there though....it fills a need
