Charter sends contest winner two smaller TVs, plays "miscommunication" card {Engadget HD}
Jul 9th 2008 3:48PM The original article mentioned that the user would be responsible for taxes. Is the consumerist absolutely sure that the contest winner did not originally communicate he may have difficulties paying the taxes on what could possibly be considered a 10k+ HDTV? (I find that contests usually claim & report to the IRS the full MSRP value for there prizes even if you as a consumer could get the item for much, much less by shopping around)

Landmark Theatre brings the 4K love to Denver, Colorado {Engadget HD}
Dec 28th 2007 3:02PM I went to this new theater last Friday on opening night. I'm not sure if I sat in the theater with the 4K projector. I suspect not.
Admission is $12 (in the evening) and includes Soda & Popcorn which can be obtained from four soda machines & four popcorn machines that are well separated (for crowd managment) in the lobby.
An additional $2 per ticket gets you VIP status which lets you enter the theater early, delivery service from the wait staff and the right to sit in the love seats. Though sadly, on opening night the ushers didn't seem to have the gumption to kick non VIPs out of the good seats, so... if that trend continues skip the $2 VIP cost.
The VIP seats were not even that comfortable. The seats backs reclined when you put your weight on them, and maybe the recline was too much for me. (Your Mileage May Vary)
My DW and I ordered pizzas which were very overcooked and as near as I could tell contained no sauce. This could have been opening night jitters, or a matter of simple overcooking. Not worth the $7 each, eat before you get here.
That said, they have a liquor license. So, if you like to have a beer or wine with your Movie & Have not yet built your own dedicated home theater this is the place for you!
Report: Germans buy 10,000 iPhones {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 9th 2007 3:48PM So, any chance I can order a T-Mobile (Germany) iPhone bring it to the USA and place my T-Mobile (USA) SIM card in there for a unlock free way of utilizing T-Mobile here in the USA?

Medison reveals more details on $150 laptop {Engadget}
Aug 3rd 2007 2:28PM Just in case this company is considering being bad, lets all remember a classic con technique. This company might actually send out a batch of $150 laptops, thus making people believe that they are completely legit. e.g. "Jack & Jill got thier laptops, so I'm going to order now." Of course, when the second wave of orders pours in, that would be the time the crooks may choose to walk away with the money.
iPhone + Disposable Cellphone + Prepaid Cards + New Activation Tool = Holy Cow {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 18th 2007 3:26PM "Also, instead of trying to game AT&T by using a prepaid account on a $800 phone, maybe you should work on getting better credit so you can get a real postpaid account"
Try and recognize the different needs of other users. I have the credit to obtain any of the iPhone post-paid plans. However, last month I only used 25 minutes of talk-time. I know sad huh? Now, please recognize that through this hack I can have an iPhone, pay $100 for a pre-pay card that might last ME (not you) 4 - 8 months depending on usage. That means my monthly cost for my iPhone would be $12.50 - $25.
Amazing art done with ... Rubik's Cubes? {DS Fanboy}
Feb 26th 2007 6:49PM
When I first saw these images a few years ago I knew I HAD to have this art! I undertook the task of re-creating some Rubiks Cube / Mario art for myself.
First up was designing the pixel map I was going to use, first I searched for "mario sprite" and came up with some good results to start with, then I painted my pixel map using only the 6 colors available to me on a cube.
However, my first pixel map was going to require 9 rows of 6 cubes each, 56 cubes. At $10 per cube my dream art project was going to cost me $560 dollars.
I thought I was defeated, however my friends told me not to give up on my dream so I came up with a better pixel map (of Mario in a different pose) and came up with a plan that required only 24 cubes.
$240... Still too much for an art project.
In the end, my desire to bring two of my favorite 80's icons together allowed me to find a unique situation to the cost issue. Once I had my cubes in one place I was able to assemble my art project in a very short amount of time.
If anybody would like to commission a work from me, let me know! I'm happy to sell out! Fair warning I'm pretty prima donna, so I'll be expensive. But, I'm fast!

DS releases for the week of December 11th {DS Fanboy}
Dec 11th 2006 3:08PM Umm, this is like the third time Lionel Trains: On Track has been on the releases this week list. I'm confused, is it coming out or what? It was on the list last week, but I have not seen it on shelves yet. Whats the deal?
ZOO Digital to publish new train sim {DS Fanboy}
Nov 27th 2006 3:25PM I enjoy trains, and was looking forward to this title. Even without any information, screen shots or pics. The box art had a train on the cover & I was going to get it.
I was very excited to see that BestBuy.com listed it at $9.99 last Friday & Saturday. So, not expecting the unreviewed, no screen shot train game to fly off the shelves I went to my local BestBuy late on Black Friday well after the big crowds had gone away. No game, I was very surprised to think that it had sold out.
Later, at home I tried to purchase online. Guess what? The game had a release date of today November 27th.
So, how exactly should I have EVER purchased this game at Best Buy for $9.99 during the Friday & Saturday only sale.
