Canon EOS-1D Mark IV lands for a pre-production hands-on {Engadget}
Oct 30th 2009 6:10PM I own a 5D Mark II already, but this is going to be my second camera. The 1D Mark IV seems very promising! Very exciting times.
Nikon D3S shows its high ISO prowess in two sample videos {Engadget}
Oct 14th 2009 3:39PM Of course it's a nice camera, unfortunate we can't see real HD version of these videos though! I own a Canon 5D Mark II, but I have nothing to do with the stupid fanboy war that exists between camera owners (especially Nikon vs. Canon), I love my camera and it does exactly what I need it to (lots of studio work, on location strobist stuff and portraits and weddings, not to mention some landscapes), the right tool for the right job!
Of course the new Nikon has great features, better AF and ISOs, with other features, but this is why it costs so much money. I'm just salivating waiting for what Canon has up its sleeve with the Mark IV! It's a great time to be at a camera owning level of prosumer or professional! Amazing technology.
NIN crowd sources concert film with 400GB of raw HD footage {Engadget HD}
Jan 10th 2009 5:14AM Well thats a given I think. I've seen a few camera angles from these recordings and there is simple no way that up to 7 cameras that are HD capable recorded this kind of footage from 3 concerts in a row.
By Trent Reznor's past over the last few years.... this is definitely their (Nine Inch Nails) doing..... they knew the big Blu-ray/DVD was not happening anymore and decided to do this as a last ditch effort. Great stuff!
NIN crowd sources concert film with 400GB of raw HD footage {Engadget HD}
Jan 9th 2009 11:01PM There is a massive FAN project going on to take this footage and produce a Blu-ray and 1080p Torrent... (which is all going to be free, minus the cost of a disc, etc.)

So... keep an eye out. The footage I've seen so far is excellent. And the audio is a very good stereo mix right off the sound board.
No Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD for PS3 owners? -- kind of {Engadget HD}
May 9th 2007 7:36AM I wrote that in the PS3 Forums! hahaha wtf?
Sony responds to rumors of the PlayStation 3's audio limitations {Joystiq Playstation}
May 9th 2007 7:33AM The funny thing is, most people don't seem to know that you can EASILY use TrueHD/Uncompressed PCM (up to 7.1!) without the use of HDMI 1.3. As long as the PS3 is SET to decode the stuff by selecting LinearPCM instead of BITSTREAM. If you have the right receiver (which youd need anyway if you got a 1.3 HDMI unit) for 1.2 HDMI or 1.2a HDMI then you can easily use the Uncompressed Sound from games like Resistance fall Of man (true 7.1 PCM! Sounds amazing) and Blu-ray discs.... almost no one ever mentions this.
