May 22nd 2007 1:54PM Kevin: Can you exactly point out where HD DVD (=Microsoft) is using Linux? As far as I know only Blu-ray players can be based on Linux (by using Sigma SoC, for example). HD DVD players tend to use a version of windows, right? You pay license of Windows CE with every HD DVD player, that's the exact reason I hate HD DVD. It's ties to M$.

May 22nd 2007 8:42AM Actually it isn't old news. This is from recent financial statement from Funai where they tell their strategy for year 2007. Their US strategy says they WILL introduce Blu-ray player before end of 2007. No word of HD DVD support. Earlier there was no official confirmation, now there is.

May 3rd 2007 2:40AM This Blu-ray-drive is quite cheap indeed. It includes software to play Blu-ray movies as Pioneer press release says "It comes bundled with media software that ensures compatibility with commercially released Blu-ray Disc movies."
