How many dead pixels are too many dead pixels? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
May 26th 2006 9:03AM I used to do warranty work on LCD's, not for apple though. Some companys actually use a percentage if X percent of pixels are dead then replace. Most companies just use their best judgement. If more than 2 dead pixels were in close proximity(1 inch or so, we would generaly replace. If it took longer than 1 minute to find, generally wasn't replaced
NBC's less than perfect Olympic coverage {Engadget HD}
Feb 13th 2006 7:44AM Lets give them some credit first at least they are making people aware of HD ten times more than they did just 3-6 months ago. that being said...
I had audio problems too. There was a time during the luge where the audio was doubled and delayed about 5 seconds. aka the most annoying thing in the world.
Personal thoughts on Comcast HD DVR {Engadget HD}
Oct 4th 2005 7:20PM Cable companies are required by law to have firewire on their HD boxes, they can't get rid of them. I guess the FCC IS good for something after all!!!
Is HDTV's future really that bright? {Engadget HD}
Sep 21st 2005 9:07AM Ok...you made one good point, about the cable ready DVR's. It seems that they are all waiting for a thing called Interactive Cable Ready. Cable company threw the current version together to get the FCC out of there hair, If I made PVR's I would wait too. The current version is horrible. On the other topics you are off your rocker....For one I used to sell HDTV's and I spent at least 1 hour every day explaining to customers how to hook up a VCR.....not an HDTV, you must not be properly educated on the connection types and what they are used for...take a trip to your local (privately owned) electronics store buddy.

Are HD tuners worthless? {Engadget HD}
Aug 27th 2005 8:06PM What we are missing here is the fact that the TV's with tuners built in are better in many more ways than just the tuner. 2nd Gen cable cards will soon be available so that would eliminate the horible excuses for set top boxes that are on the market, they let your TV (that you paid good money for) decode the stream. I pay good money for cable but I still have my antenna up with my sharp LC37GD6U because there is sooooo much artifacting with the combination of the Mototola box as well as your cable company taking a good feed (they use an antenna for your locals) and compressing it as much as they can and still call it HD. (Keep your antenna's and buy Integrated TV's, you won't regret it)
