Logitech's Harmony 900 remote controls components behind closed doors {Engadget HD}

Wake me up when Logitech puts bluetooth support in a remote.

Miyamoto "not worried at all" about Sony and Microsoft's motion controllers {Engadget}

Jun 8th 2009 4:29PM someone sounds a bit bitter against Nintendo eh?

"they would've won this console war hands down..."

uhh, last I checked, they have. As others have said, the *quality* of the consoles and respective games is completely subjective, however, while Nintendo makes a killing of the Wii (as well as the DSi), Sony ..not so much. http://kotaku.com/5018899/sony-lost-over-3-billion-to-ps3-cost-pricing-imbalance

As much as you may dislike Nintendo's "crappy games, poor third party support, etc.", there's no question, that Nintendo HAS won this generation's console war. And kudos to them for doing it.

Flight Display Systems shows off the first Blu-ray player for planes {Engadget HD}

May 13th 2009 6:20PM While Sony and Samsung may be non-DO-160E certified, Flight Display is, in fact, repackaging someone's existing BD hardware, getting it certified, and selling it with a ridiculous profit margin no doubt.

I've never cared for Flight Display System's products, because they've always thrived off re-branding CE products rather than develop their own. That, and the aesthetics of their products is absolutely horrendous.
*shrug*

Toshiba forced to pay up in class action DLP lawsuit {Engadget HD}

Mar 2nd 2009 8:00AM Do you really need to hear it again?
.."Engadget is a blog, not a news site."

If the 'inaccuracies' bother you so much, go find a news site to read.

Hollywood still doesn't understand why people pirate content {Engadget HD}

Feb 28th 2009 10:17AM "Protecting their investments."

Is that industry-talk for "restricting how consumers use the media they purchase"?

Warner Bros. made over $315 million in profit for Dark Knight last summer. (source: http://www.the-numbers.com/movies/records/budgets.php)
Perhaps if they allowed their customers to do things such as ripping to home media servers, streaming throughout the house, portable devices, etc. people wouldn't despise the MPAA/RIAA/Industry so much. I think they can certainly afford it. :rollseyes:

Hollywood still doesn't understand why people pirate content {Engadget HD}

Feb 27th 2009 9:57PM Wow, thanks for the rant. Really.
I think I got my share of entertainment for the day by reading your comments. Does that count?

Hollywood still doesn't understand why people pirate content {Engadget HD}

Feb 27th 2009 9:47PM I think most would agree that piracy is wrong, from an ethical standpoint. As minimalist stated, if people can get digital content for free, they're going to. Period. As far as how much that negatively affects the artists (not the labels), is debateable.

The real issue, as Ben argues, is the restriction behind said content and the rate at which Hollywood embraces new technology. Over in Japan, they have an entire wireless network dedicated soley for viewing TV content on portable devices. -- Meanwhile here in the US, it's been like pulling teeth just to get the studios to allow "their" content to be viewed on portable devices.
Get with the program already, Hollywood!

Cox follows Comcast down the data discrimination road {Engadget HD}

Jan 29th 2009 10:58AM Well said.

Policy like this opens the flood gates for ISPs to prioritize their bandwidth to select content providers. And by "select" I mean, "the ones who pay said ISP an incentive donation." Frankly, I think that kind of business should be illegal - right along with the lobbyists.
It's on the new administration's shoulders now.. Where's our net neutrality!?

Logitech's Harmony 1100 remote is more touchscreen, less buttons {Engadget HD}

Jan 6th 2009 12:21PM Almost 3 years since the PS3 has been released and Logitech still won't develop a bluetooth capable remote? Bluetooth (and RF for that matter) is vastly superior to IR - what the hell is taking adoption of these formats so long?
