New Hitachi TVs surface online {Engadget HD}
Aug 28th 2005 5:07PM I'm not sure if this is a good thing... HDTV costs continue to go down mainly because they are cutting important things out of the hardware all together. For example, the new model Sharps LCDs coming out I will have nothing to do with... Some have no hd tuner, lack cable card, lack tv guide feature, some will lack a dvi port and pc monitor capability, and lack a digital audio output. the only improvement i see is a 12 ms response time, but its not a huge difference over 16 ms on the slightly older models. My point is, they should be finding cheaper and more efficient ways to manufacture the same parts. I LOVE the Aquos line but they need to come down in price without losing any features.
Are HD tuners worthless? {Engadget HD}
Aug 26th 2005 5:46PM I don't think they are worthless at all. I don't need to use an extra input for a tuner I shouldn't have to buy. I will have it built in, and have a cable card slot for better quality hd cable when i decide to get that.

Wider is better for first time ever {Engadget HD}
Aug 24th 2005 5:09PM The only non-wide screen DVDs I have ever bought were either on accident, or didn't have a widescreen version available at all. Currently I have a 4:3 27" analog tv, but I'm probably going to pick up one of the new Sony A10's lcd projection hdtvs... I only wish 37" lcds were a lot cheaper, I'm thinking of the sharp aquos here.
