Best Buy still leads in Blu-ray sales, but Wal-mart is closing in {Engadget HD}

May 12th 2009 10:46AM Are people REALLY rushing out to Best Buy and dropping $30 + tax for new release Blu-Ray movies??? It would be one thing if they knocked the Blu-Ray price down to around $20 the first week a movie comes out, but I just laugh when I see new release DVD's on sale for $16 and the Blu-Ray copy for $35 sitting right next to it. I mean come on!!! Haven't retailers figured out that consumers will justify *ANY* purchase because it was "on sale".

Nintendo's $19.99 MotionPlus Wiimote add-on ships to US on June 8th {Engadget}

Apr 14th 2009 2:50PM I guess it if makes the controls THAT MUCH BETTER maybe developers will jump on board.

I'll admit I'll be first in line if they can make a Star Wars lightsaber game with the controls we all dreamed of when we first heard of the Wii years ago.

RIM CEO: Buggy smartphone software is the "new reality" {Engadget Mobile}

Jan 26th 2009 4:05PM Feel free to vote this down, but is that Dawson's Creek crying on the picture?....hahahahahaha

Poll: What's the most annoying form of advertising? {Engadget HD}

Jun 10th 2008 4:08PM WITHOUT A DOUBT....the most annoying form of advertising is when FOX airs the MLB playoffs. They angle the camera so half of the screen is the pitcher and the batter and the other half is a super-imposed ad for one of their absolutely horrible TV shows. I feel like I can't focus on the actual game when this bright glowing sign is taking up half my screen. DRIVES ME NUTS.

Amazon bundles up Blu-ray Discs {Engadget HD}

May 30th 2008 1:13PM Tell ya what Amazon/Blu-Ray. Let me know when I can buy *ANY* movie for $20 each....or start putting them on sale the first week they're released like regular DVD's. Geeze!!!

Netflix to charge "premium" for renting Blu-ray Discs {Engadget HD}

Apr 22nd 2008 2:16PM As it has been mentioned multiple times here...

If Netflix is going to raise the membership price for Blu-Ray rentals, then they must increase their inventory! Nearly every new Blu-Ray release automatically goes to "Very Long Wait". By the time I actually get the movie a month later, it's already available in HD on Apple TV/Xbox Marketplace/etc for download.

I can't wait to see Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.......

.......in August when it's finally sent to me.

Blu-ray releases on April 22nd, 2008 {Engadget HD}

Apr 21st 2008 3:32PM Cloverfield was a crazy flick. To those who haven't seen it, try to to watch it on the biggest screen you can (really helps with immersing you into the film). The fact that it was shot with HD cameras is all the more reason to hold out for the Blu version.

The next few months do look kind of bleak for new releases. Does anyone know if/when Sweeney Todd will be released on Blu-Ray???

"Study" finds zany crowd willing to pay $9 for earlier release HD VOD films {Engadget HD}

Apr 16th 2008 4:11PM Give me High Defintion Video-On-Demand with brand new releases for $5 a movie and I'll hop on the bandwagon immediately.

$9 is ridiculous.

Between Comcast Cable TV, Verizon Fios, Satellite TV, Apple TV, XBOX Marketplace, Amazon Unbox, etc all competing for your business - someone should be able to offer brand new releases in HD for a decent price.

They better act fast though....Netflix and LG are cookin' up something that will have HD new releases downloaded to your TV for a decent monthly subscription rate.

Arbitrator orders Time Warner Cable to carry MASN {Engadget HD}

Jan 22nd 2008 11:09AM Yeah, MASN's HD programming sucks! If I'm gonna see my Orioles lose 100 games this year...at least let me see it in HD.
