JVC puts 4K DLA-RS4000 projector in your home... for just $175,000 {Engadget HD}
Nov 4th 2009 10:07PM Why would anyone rent a forklift for this thing? For one, it's only 110 lbs, and while I can't life that alone, I could with help from 3 of my friends. If I just dropped $175k on a projector, I KNOW I would have friends begging to help me install it. Where that $1,000 could come in handy is shipping; is it included in that price?

Poll: What's the biggest Blu-ray disc still due to arrive in 2009? {Engadget HD}
Nov 1st 2009 4:27PM Wow, mostly a nice selection. Anyone who buys G.I.Joe doesn't deserve a blu-ray player, same for Terminator: Salvation. Forrest Gump and Monsters Inc. will be nice catalog titles. I saw District 9 in 4K and it was AMAZING probably a lot due to it being shot on the RED ONE, and Up also looked stellar in the same 4K theater. Both will be excellent BR transfers I'm sure. Star Trek got my vote just because I think it will have the best chance to take the cake, but I know a lot of people who also liked Up, so maybe it can be a surprise sleeper. Harry Potter's for kids and Watchmen is already out on BR so anyone who only so-so liked it already has the BRD and won't buy again.

HDTV Listings for October 25, 2009 {Engadget HD}
Oct 25th 2009 11:36PM ...yah, this was most definitely posted after most of these shows had aired. Thankfully I stopped relying on this and already turn to other sources for what to watch. Why is this even published anymore? Back in the day HD shows few and far between sure, but so were HD channel expansions, and now those are all grouped into one posting and now almost every show is HD save for a few reality shows (Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Hell's Kitchen-but at least that's broadcast n native widescreen) and a few comedy or animated shows (Family Guy, The Good Wife). In fact, it was tough for me to find shows that weren't HD on any of my top 6 channels.

Poll: What is the best Blu-ray player? {Engadget HD}
Oct 25th 2009 4:35PM I used to be able to keep track of them all, but not so anymore. I have a BDP-S350, but I would not classify that as perfect (I got it new and for half-price). I would say the perfect one would have wifi built-in, or at least as an available add-on, ALL the audio codec support available and all the requisite streaming support including but not limited to Netflix, Pandora and YouTube. So, what player would that be?

Disney Keychest to make buy-once view-anywhere movies a reality with Apple's help? {Engadget HD}
Oct 23rd 2009 3:02AM When you buy media, you acquire no rights anyways. When you buy a song off iTunes and you use that in a broadcast show or for profit, you are in heavy violation of copyrights. And sure, we have the right to backup our media or transcode it to play on our iPod for personal use, but you technically still have no rights. I'm kind torn on this. I'm an Apple fanboy, but yet another DRM scheme doesn't sit well with me. If Disney can get together with all or even most of the other studios, and this is both a physical and digital medium, than I think we'll all grow to accept it.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Blu-ray review roundup {Engadget HD}
Oct 22nd 2009 1:10AM Uh, anyone else notice that the top four links are all the same thing, and that only AVS Forum links to a different article?

Level 3 delivering end to end uncompressed video from Broncos home games {Engadget HD}
Oct 13th 2009 3:05PM I love production trucks and broadcast news more than most, but this doesn't even make sense. The only way we can get a "better" quality is if their studio has newer, better and/or more sophisticated encoders, otherwise we're all still getting the same compressed signal.

Blu-ray releases on October 6th 2009 {Engadget HD}
Oct 6th 2009 12:41AM The National Parks looked absolutely amazing. The doc itself was a little slow, and thus could be boring to some/many, but an excellent candidate for a BD release. Ken Burns has definitely done it again. Now if only PBS would push out Carrier on BD, I'd be content. Contact could be cool too, and it's nice to see classics like Charlie Brown and Snow White coming out as well.

Kanex Mini DisplayPort Adapter will take your Mac mini to HDMI town {Engadget HD}
Oct 5th 2009 12:09PM We got one of the new minis a couple months ago which was quite unfortunate because we had a DVI-DVI cable to go from our old mini to our old TV, then got a new Toshiba Regza and so I bought a DVI-HDMI adapter for the cable and a mini-DVI->DVI adapter for the new mini, and now this product does it all. My Frankenstiened setup still works though, so no reason to justify spending $70 right now.
Why does this need to be USB powered though, I though Mini-DP and HDMI were pin compatible so all you'd need is a crossover cable, no adapters or boxes?
