Apr 10th 2009 2:34PM I agree with badweasel, I bought an LG 8X bluray burner and just stuck it in my Mac Pro, it works fine...true i have to boot into windows to watch BD movies (VMWare PC wont play it either). I paid $200 for the burner so don't waste your money on this.
Also, badweasel has good instructions but it was much much simpler than that for me. I got an angled SATA cable and used a pair of long nosed plyers to plug it into the socket underneath the assembly (without having to remove anything from the mac). I hooked up 2 SATA cables there this way, was not a problem unless you have huge sausage finger hands :P
