Edelweiss PC casemod goes above and beyond insanity {Engadget}

Jun 28th 2009 5:16PM I don't get how Engadget is in trouble... a) you don't need to ask permission if you're reporting it as news, not like Engadget is saying they made this; b) Engadget never said this case was new, all the article says is "Wow, this casemod is wicked." and c) Engadget got this from Case Mod Blog... why do they need to be so snarky toward Engadget?... I think MDPC needs to pull a giant stick out of its ass or something.

Editorial: Ten reasons why Windows Mobile 6.5 misses the mark {Engadget}

Feb 18th 2009 1:14PM One reason why I will continue to like WinMo over Apple's stuff is choice though. I will concede that Apple's default interface is leaps and bounds ahead of WinMo's by any stretch of the imagination but it just doesn't allow enough choice. With WinMo, I can install Opera and flash to get a kickass browser. Apple refused to let Opera into the App store because it competed with Safari (according to an Ars Technica post), typical of the vertical monopoly ideology they've been pushing. With WinMo, I can install pretty much any app I want by simply getting the cab over the interwebs, while everything on the iPhone has to go through the App Store in all its SDK/EULA glory. I honestly don't get when people complain about M$'s monopoly all the time when Apple does it worse. The actively try to kill off any continued support for 3rd party iPod syncing, limit OS X to apple hardware only, limit browser/GPS navigation software on the iPhone, as a few examples. I honestly would use Apple and its beautiful BSD core over Windows if Apple simply weren't so restrictive on what I could do with their devices.

Gigabyte's M912 swivel screen netbook gets unboxed on video {Engadget}

Jul 24th 2008 11:19PM the major difference that I find the most important reason to have a proper "tablet" with an active digitizer is that a "touchscreen" has 1 level of sensitivity. Active digitizers usually have around 250 though some have more.

The sensitivity is a huge bonus in apps that support it (e.g. photoshop) as you can use it to change the size of your brush stroke and such to make things a lot more "natural" looking

Jul 24th 2008 11:17PM Did you not watch the whole section in the video about how it's going to be sold as a barebones system and the OS, HDD and memory will be up to the distributor? What is it Linux fan boys and being really ignorant? Everytime a new product comes up it's like "ZOMG BUT IT NEEDZ LINUX OR ELSEZ IT SUX"

I wonder if the NAACP will step in to prevent further atrocities against Macs.
