Nielsen VideoScan High-Def market share for week ending June 29th, 2008 {Engadget HD}
Jul 8th 2008 3:21AM Oh, and the special Edition Blu-ray isn't much about more movie features, it's about postcards, a comicbook, a Dark knight sneak-peak and a Batman Begins lenticular.
It also has 7.50 towards a Dark knight ticket good till mid August?
So if you use it to see Dark knight and you were going to see Dark knight anyways, it's only like 13 bucks more, but again, that's not for movie or special features content.
For the Movie and all the special feature content(and added content) you can just get the regular Blu-ray version, on a single Blu-ray instead of 2 DVDs.

Jul 8th 2008 3:12AM I bought Batman begins Blu-ray for 17.95 on Amazon.
Amazon has the special Edition DVD which has less special features than the Blu-ray for 14.99
4 bucks more for the HD version isn't much of a mark-up in my book.
87% of PlayStation 3 owners watching Blu-ray movies? Survey says yes {Engadget}
Jul 5th 2008 6:04PM By your comment I can only assume you somehow think 87% is less than 70%
87% ARE watching Blu-rays on their PS3s, that is what the article says.
The 60% number is from last year, again, as stated in the article.

Jun 30th 2008 4:48PM Netflix renting made it easier to only buy the cream of the crop that I'd watch over and over and rent the rest, cutting down adding to my library in the last few years so I don't even own this baby on any format.(having just about every friend owning helped too.)
This will be an easy sale for me.
The mystery of Netflix's queue system gets tackled, throttling all but confirmed {Engadget HD}
Jun 30th 2008 4:42PM I'm just north of Seattle, a movie mails on Wednesday and I have the next movie Friday. I am a movie buff so I do rent both newer and older movies as well as TV series.
I mail it Saturday, they have it Monday and if it's a new release, even though I'm a years old user, and go through 3+ discs a week I get it Tuesday 8 out of 10 times.
Blu-ray stock is a bit less and so there does seem to be longer waits on those, but that is the only place I still see waits and those have gotten better in the last two months or so.
No late fees, 12+ discs a month for 20 bucks, I win.
No other movie studios signed with Sony's PlayStation download service yet {Engadget HD}
Jun 28th 2008 3:19PM Agreed, not all of us are living beyond our means and paying 10% of our entertainment budget to things we bought last year(making them cost like twice as much in the long run as well) and can afford the few things we actually want to see and hear.
Nowadays you can get a single song, albeit a compressed version of the single song you want, whereas a decade ago it was like half the price of a full album almost for that one song, and if that one song wasn't the hit song, you had to buy the album.
The choices are greater, the costs are more often less, but there's more whining than ever....

Jun 27th 2008 4:03PM The only reason there wasn't an Official recession in America in 2002 was because Bush gave hundreds of dollars to every tax paying American to prop up the economy, just like he's done this year.
There are many economists that use far more complex criteria to gauge whether a recession is upon a country then the simple 2 quarters down used historically.
In 02' the first and 3rd quarters were down in America and the only reason second quarter wasn't was the bush tax payout. The vast majority of economists agree on this.

Jun 27th 2008 12:49AM Lots of trailers on the playstation store for free DL are 1080p, so we'll have to wait and see. I agree that Bandwidth will be an issue, but it could be there will be a 1080p or two movie DL available.
The long trailer for Shakiras Oral fixation tour was in 720p, so again, just have to wait and see.
Warner bringing 300 (again), JFK and Casablanca to Blu-ray this fall {Engadget HD}
Jun 26th 2008 3:57PM Yeah, I might rent it and watch the PiP and what ever else they might throw in to not get bashed with Negative PR when it re-releases.
If it really is all that I might upgrade.
