DirecTV not looking after its customers: DirecTiVo problems, faulty HR20s, HD Lite, and home networking issues {PVR Wire}

Jan 13th 2007 3:24AM Now hopefully ya'll understand my angst when Tivo releases S3 that won't even support satellite with a separate receiver. When my S2 DTivos & standalones die (and thankfully not soon with 'upgrades') who knows where things will be, they will not be progressing to new gear or HD gear.

HDTV PVR Dilemma - Settle for your cable companies HD PVR or go TiVo for $800? {PVR Wire}

Jan 5th 2007 2:23AM All,
Of course I know that DTV ended the partnership with Tivo. What I'm saying is that Tivo turned around and released a device, S3, that can only be used with cable tv. I was more than willing to buy a S3 and rent a directv receiver for it. I work for a NewsCorp sub-company and as such am required to have DirecTV because of the sports packages, NFL, etc. Canceling service would only hurt me and wouldn't change things at DirecTV. One thing I've learned about News/DirecTV and anything Mr. Murdoch owns is that it's about MONEY and not content, relationships or customer satisfaction.

Jan 4th 2007 6:18PM Once again I'd like to publicly remind Tivo that they have abandoned DirecTV customers by releasing a box that won't even accept a signal from a satellite receiver.

Perhaps once John Malone and Liberty take over DirecTV a new partnership can be formed.

Tivo selling toasters for charity {PVR Wire}

Dec 21st 2006 1:38PM Tivo employees should buy them and resell them on ebay promising to give the money to whichever charity

Verbatim to launch mini DVD-R dual-layer media {Engadget}

Aug 4th 2006 2:10AM Isn't that the price for one BD-R disc? More scrap for the piles at Best Buy and Circuit City (3" CDRs and CDRs that look like vinyl records)

Sirius video service coming this year, sez Karmazin {Engadget}

Aug 3rd 2006 11:06AM First, let me see I'm not against this idea...

Second, if satradio wants to start transmitting video, then I think they should be subject to the same must-carry laws as satellite tv providers. That said, we should finally be able to put an end to HD-Radio and Sirius and XM can carry local stations as part of their normal digital offering. I'll probably embrace satradio this year, but it's time for them to start getting the same treatment from the FCC. As cool as satradio programming is, I'd still like to get my local stations (and their respective programming and jocks) at the same input point as everything else. One antenna to rule them all.
