A 1998 Forrester Research prediction about HDTVs wasn't even close {Engadget HD}
Oct 10th 2009 4:33PM @slappy: This may come as a surprise to you , but not everyone wants the biggest TV. There are people who do not want their TV to dominate their living room, and are perfectly happy with a 32" or small TV.
Also HDTV doesn't mean big. It mean 1080p. You can get a 1080p monitor with HDMI and component inputs for $300 on newegg.

NVIDIA halting chipset development after all {Engadget}
Oct 8th 2009 4:56PM nVidia is not getting out of the chipset market.
They are halting production SPECIFICALLY on chipsets that work with newer intel CPUs because of licensing issues.

Tegra is not going anywhere. ION is a bit of a ? since it is not clear (to me) whether the licensing issue is strictly with i7 or i5 chips or also with ATOM chips. There is some talk of ION working with VIA chips..... so that could breathe life into that product line.

Oct 6th 2009 1:11AM OUCH!
as much as i hate to admit it, ATT really does suck. In new york, slow/non-existant data. In san francisco, dropped calls and bad data . On the train from new york to philadelphia dropped calls and slow data.
i got sucked in by the iPhone, and it ends up being fine, because i'm on a university campus with almost ubiquitous wifi coverage, so i never really have to depend on the crappy ATT 3G service.
but seriously, verizon phones are so crap.
iBurgh complaint department for iPhone gets to the heart of city living {Engadget}
Aug 17th 2009 5:28PM i disagree. Using the location info from the iPhone and an app interface to choose from a list of complaint topics, this could save a lot of money spent on 311 operators. Of course, we are in a time when we need more, not fewer jobs..... oh well.

Found Footage: iPhone Consumer Revolt (NSFW) {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Aug 17th 2009 5:16PM i think it really depends on where you live.
when the iphone first came out there was terrible att service in my home and office. About 6 months later they put up new towers and now it is totally fine.
However, when i am on the commuter train, i get dropped calls all the time. When i was with verizon, my phone would switch towers without a hitch.
And in manhattan the data connection is very iffy. Sometimes it can take 30 seconds to load a web page.
That said, verizon has the shittiest phones and as bad or worse customer service than att. And who knows...maybe if all iPhones were on verizon, it would also collapse under the burden of heavy data use.
