There are hundreds of studies that show that a large screen space improves productivity. This is especially true for people doing photo/video editing or programming and data analysis.

Netflix begins testing Watch Instantly on the Mac {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Nov 11th 2008 2:36AM are you kidding?
it is way way cheaper for netflix to stream than it is to ship. Postage is likely the most expensive part of netflix's business. Not to mention replacing scratched DVDs and sorting and shipping.... etc.

There was a point where netflix was treading water, but now it is doing really well. I think the 'watch instantly' is a big factor.

I think the economy tanking is another factor. Netflix is way cheaper than going to the movie theater and cheaper than buying discs. And cheaper than cable. It is probably the most effective entertainment dollars you can spend. I think it has a chance to give the iTunes store a run for its money.

Analyst predicts "dramatic" drop in Blu-ray sales during Q4 {Engadget HD}

Oct 21st 2008 3:00AM I still don't really understand why people buy movies.
There are SO many movies out there who has time for repeat viewings?
I have 500 DVDs in my netflix cue and i keep putting recommendations from friends/rotten tomatoes on the top, so i can't even put a dent in it.

Netflix sees 30% rise in profit, expects 500,000 Blu-ray subscribers {Engadget HD}

Oct 21st 2008 2:55AM This is probably because of the HUGE added value of 'watch now'.

It is way cheaper than cable and for most people (especially with a system that can stream to TV) good enough. As an AV snob i won't do it for movies... i need my AC3 audio.

But i wonder if people are 'tightening their belts' and choosing netflix over going to the theatre. Taking your girlfriend to the movies (you know she wants some candy and a diet coke) once a month covers netflix for 2-4 months!
