Oregon Scientific's ATC5K and ATC3K action cameras are ready for, you know, action {Engadget}
Jun 6th 2008 12:15PM Is there really good enough image stabilization to make a handlebar-mounted camera work well at all? I'd expect all you'd see is crazy juddering.
How would you change SanDisk's Sansa Fuze? {Engadget}
May 16th 2008 7:40PM I'd say the biggest shortcoming is that the scrollwheel doesn't speed up when you're going through long lists. With 8GB on the device (and up to 8GB additional microSD flash), the "Songs" menu is useless.
I would really like to see this thing support unencrypted AAC (m4a). They're going to have a hard time getting iPod converts if they don't support iTunes' default ripping format.
There are complaints about the video files using too much space, for those few people that would want to use this tiny thing as a video device.
Oh, and it can be really hard to find one in stock!

May 16th 2008 7:34PM I've read from consumers that it is comparable to the Clip.

May 16th 2008 7:33PM It can be set up to work as a flash disk drive, so it should work on OSX.

May 16th 2008 7:32PM My Fuze plays while charging. It only says "connected" when its connected to the computer. Its on the latest rev, though - maybe an older firmware rev didn't work that way?
Creative could pay class-action settlement over exaggerated MP3 capacities {Engadget}
May 1st 2008 12:45PM Its a common complaint on iPod forums - iPods don't have the entire disk space that's advertised either. Mine is a 20GB with only ~18 usable.
Probably the difference is that other vendors put the actual disk space in the fine print somewhere...as if people read the fine print.
Apple officially says it's the #1 music retailer in the US {Engadget}
Apr 3rd 2008 5:52PM An interview with the president of Nettwork (several months ago) discussed DRM - they never asked for it, Apple just put it on. If you have some EVIDENCE that Apple is being required by the labels to put DRM on music that isn't DRMed anywhere else, please post.
Asus Nova P22 hits the States in all its spendy, miniature glory {Engadget}
Feb 20th 2008 1:20PM A few salient points are missing here.
1. Its expensive because its water-cooled to keep it quiet (its targeted for the living room, not the office). Completely empty home theater PC cases that aren't even water-cooled can cost several hundred dollars.
2. Close-ups of the back show connections for front, surround, and center speakers, as well as S/PDIF in and out (and 4 USB ports).
Its certainly not a bargain, but the Engadget overview seems to reflect some confusion on the reasoning behind this design.
Asus HDTV Suite-HDMI turns your monitor into a TV {Engadget HD}
Feb 19th 2008 6:28PM I would hope they'd have an ATSC tuner (preferably HD!) if they're going to sell it in the US...I guess NTSC would still be usable for cable TV.
Niveus pledges allegiance to Blu-ray, bids adieu to HD DVD {Engadget HD}
Feb 16th 2008 1:47PM With BD+ not having been cracked, does it really make sense to buy a media center with Blu-Ray? Its an awfully expensive way to go if all it can do is play pre-recorded disks.
