Saurik live chat: Learn about Apple's new signature server {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 24th 2009 4:48PM Replying myself to say that I'm a moron; turns out it IS a text chat. I was misled by the video-player-like play button and "watch now". Sorry!

Saurik live chat: Learn about Apple's new signature server {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 24th 2009 4:31PM Transcript, please. Not all of us can hear.

AT&T & MMS: So close, some of us can taste it {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 14th 2009 3:23PM matt, that doesn't work. Still goes (!) when I try with Wifi disabled (and MMS goes over the cell radio anyway, so I can't see how that would be a factor).

LogMeIn to Mac users: No Hamachi² for you! {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 12th 2009 12:23AM That is true! But AMD chips are compatible with Intel chips when running Windows -- my gaming machine is an AMD system and I've never, ever run into issues with it refusing to run software compiled for x86. But "WinAMD" just doesn't sound the same, does it?

LogMeIn to Mac users: No Hamachi² for you! {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 11th 2009 4:26PM Prove it. "Committed" means leaving us all out to dry?

I'm already recommending to my gaming group that we look elsewhere for a provider that actually recognize that not everyone is on Wintel.

iTunes 9: App Management {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 9th 2009 3:28PM I am not installing a firmware update without a working "don't update the baseband, too" tool if the baseband does get updated by this update. Thanks, Apple, for screwing over those of us who want freedom of choice - -AGAIN.

iTunes 9 revealed {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 9th 2009 1:45PM The link goes to the wrong version and the update checker tells me 8.2.1 is the latest version. Story needs correcting - there IS no download link to a new version.

Traveling this weekend? Win a $100 gas card from App Cubby and TUAW {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Sep 4th 2009 6:25PM Don't do anything illegal -- rolling stops and running red lights are rightfully get you in big trouble and aren't worth risking someone's life! Whether or not they're meant as jokes, advice to do illegal things shouldn't be eligible for this contest.

The basic in-town tricks have been posted already; however, nobody's mentioned yet that fuel economy falls off rapidly above 65 mph or so (varies by vehicle). If your vehicle has an instantaneous-mpg readout, use it and experiment to find out what's the most efficient cruising speed, then stick with that as much as possible given traffic conditions. Going much faster than 65 will use much more fuel as it's being wasted to overcome added aerodynamic resistance.

It might take you a few minutes longer to get where you're going, but it's not worth it. Just leave a little earlier.

(And if you're on a road trip, stop once an hour for a five-minute break to stay alert. You don't want to doze off and crash!)

The Register fighting Apple takedown notice {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 27th 2009 10:29PM I don't get why Apple is threatening the Register with the DMCA. Why does it think a company that's not in the US is subject to US law? Sorry, Apple -- you can't threaten another country with US laws. Threaten them with the California Civil Code all you want -- California is a big state, but it doesn't contain the UK!

The Mac-cessability Network: resources for Apple accessibility {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Aug 19th 2009 2:41AM Good catch. I hit their Twitter account with a complaint about that. How exactly do they call themselves pro-accessibility if they don't provide access for the disabled? Fail.
