Sony ups PlayStation 3 firmware to v1.7, PSOne titles not faring so well {Engadget}
Apr 19th 2007 11:26PM If you actually read the firmware update information, you'd know that the PS1 games are not updated yet to play on the PS3. I'm not sure where you got this idea that the PSP connects to the PS3 and automatically plays the PS1 game either. When they update the PS1 games, you'll be able to play them on the PS3 and then download them to the PSP and transfer your game saves from one to the other.
I'm hoping that I can already transfer game saves for PS1 games that I own and put on my custom firmware PSP that plays any PS1 game. That way, I can play a game on the road then come home and play it on my TV. Also, I have had no problems with any PS3 firmware update or hardware for that matter.
Blu-ray surpasses HD DVD in disc sales for the first time {Engadget HD}
Feb 26th 2007 2:42AM Ed: stop lying in every thread. Talladega Nights was not included in those sells numbers.
It is interesting to see HD-DVD supporters attack the sales numbers by saying there were only a few HD-DVD titles released in January. Well, yeah...BECAUSE ONLY UNIVERSAL SUPPORTS IT EXCLUSIVELY. You'll see that trend continue all year and on. Blu-ray will most likely have more movies released every week.
Itsinthhole, that's an interesting connection you made: "I don't know if this means anything or not, but I haven't heard anybody mention it before. Microsoft and NBC are partners in the news channel MSNBC. NBC and Universal are sister companies. Microsoft and Universal both support HD DVD only. A coincidence, I think not. It could be a long time before Universal supports Blu-ray if ever."
However, if blu-ray continues to game momentum throughout the year (with a launch in Europe and Australia for the PS3 as well as continued dominance in the US and australia already), at some point Universal may be forced to conceed.
HD DVD outsold Blu-ray 4 to 1 last year...in England {Engadget HD}
Feb 26th 2007 2:11AM freduk, you seem to want to hate sony and "their" format, but you seem to forget that it is NOT sony's format. here is a list of the corporations on the blu-ray board:
* Apple
* Dell
* Hewlett-Packard
* Hitachi
* LG
* Mitsubishi Electric
* Panasonic
* Pioneer
* Philips
* Samsung
* Sharp
* Sony
* Sun Microsystems
* TDK
* Thomson
* Twentieth Century Fox
* Walt Disney
* Warner Bros.
I guess you hate all of those companies, too. Some of them are even *gasp* Japanese. Heaven forbid...
