Wii to tango with Latin America in December, price is high {Joystiq}

Oct 16th 2006 11:50PM Just to add the Chilean side to your post (as you state in your title, this is about Latin America, but you only talk about Brazil).

Wii is already available for pre-order in Chile for Ch$259,900 which is around US$481 (at Falabella). Not as high as Brazil, but almost double what you're gonna be paying in the States!

Delivery date is currently November 19th, which is good.

HDTV World Cup madness sweeps the world...but not South America {Engadget HD}

Jun 4th 2006 7:07PM Thanks for the link. I'm a daily reader of HD Beat, so it's an honor!

Fer is right, he actually stopped by our blog and posted the link to TVA of Brazil. Even though the government there hasn't decided on an HDTV standard, TVA is a cable operator, so they can transmit however they like to their set top boxes.

The World Cup transmission by TVA is actually going to be the first HDTV broadcast in South America.

But the rest of "futbol-crazy South America" is out of luck. And I just got a 45-inch 1080p Sharp Aquos hoping that at least some cable or satellite operator in Chile would surprise us just in time for the World Cup. :(

May 20th 2006 5:58PM I actually donated money to Mr. Spiers in the past, so I would be more than happy to pay for a license (if the price is right).

It's an amazing plug-in that I use almost daily.

Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow is made for HD {Engadget HD}

Apr 21st 2006 12:27AM I just had the same thought while watching Sin City! (Which was also entirely shot in front of a green screen.) I was just watching the upscaled DVD version on my 1080p Sharp Aquos LC-45GX6U, and it is by far the best DVD I have ever seen on this screen. Can't wait for the Blu-Ray version.

HDBeat Review: Helios HVD2085 {Engadget HD}

Apr 12th 2006 9:59AM Great review, but you failed to test or mention how the HVDs are. These are special DVDs, mostly found only in Hong Kong (or Online), that can do 720p.

The Helios can play those (that's why it's called "HVD"2035).

What is your price? {Engadget HD}

Apr 4th 2006 4:42PM Dro: I'm not sure Matt is going to allow this, but here are a couple of chinese BT sites full of HDTV:

http://bt.hd-tv.cn/
http://bt.eastgame.com/

Both are in Chinese, but easy to figure out.

Actually, if you read the comments about Ben's post on how there is "no HDTV via BitTorrent", you'll find more links to "true" HDTV content via BitTorrent.

What is your price? {Engadget HD}

Apr 4th 2006 1:19PM I'm with Blu-Ray, and I would be willing to pay up to US$500.

Mind you I'm in Chile, where all the HDTV I can get is through BitTorrent (yes, you CAN find HDTV in BitTorrent, chinese torrent sites are full of it), so I'm probably willing to pay a bit more because I don't have too many options.

Even more supposed invites to the Feb. 22nd event {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Feb 11th 2006 12:16PM Scott is right about his post, he never said that is was official. Although they are obviously fakes, so the post should be updated to state that. The whole blogosphere is talking about this supposed event now.
