New cuttlefish-inspired display tech can change color, eat your pet guppy {Engadget HD}

May 15th 2009 12:03PM Cuttlefish are pretty cool, they're similar to squid...just even weirder. Although apparently they can communicate with their tentacles and colors...which is pretty amazing imo.

I was wondering the other day when we would research cuttlefish to learn about their camo, looks like MIT had already been thinking it.

This has potential!

I hate that I can only get TW where I am. Luckily I am moving soon and hopefully will be able to get U Verse.

Poll: Will Netflix's new Blu-ray rates cause a change in your subscription? {Engadget HD}

Apr 1st 2009 6:49PM You guys are hilarious. $3 more a month is too much? If you really care, don't get starbucks for a day.

I'm on Blockbuster atm and have had Netflix before, my only qualm with Blockbuster is their new change where they don't send out the next mailed movie until I return the one I got from the store. But still, I get a free game rental every month which I keep for 3-4 weeks usually. That's worth it.

Netflix needs more streaming stuff, in a month I watched everything half decent.

Canon cleared to resume work on SED TV (now that the world doesn't care) {Engadget HD}

Dec 2nd 2008 6:31PM I think plasma has actually gone up over the last few years. I browse a lot of forums and people recommend plasmas now more than before. A lot of that has to do with the price of a Panasonic plasma and the improvement in burn in prevention.

Still, I think OLED is the future.

Poll: How are you enjoying HD Netflix streaming on the Xbox 360? {Engadget HD}

Nov 24th 2008 3:49PM I'm in Austin w/ Time Warner Cable. 7 Mbps down and I've watched several episodes of Heroes in HD the entire time.

Netflix has Blu-ray movies so this just seals the deal. I'm switching from Blockbuster online even though the in store exchange is quite a nice perk as well.

Editor ponders: Do you need a Blu-ray player? {Engadget HD}

Nov 17th 2008 2:34PM You don't need a 1080p HDTV to get all the detail in a Blu-ray movie. You're just a victim of marketing hype if you believe otherwise.

A quality 720p HDTV will show all the fine details, what matters is that you're using a 1080p signal...not that your HDTV has a 1080p resolution.
