Buying an HDTV: Get the latest or Save on 2007? {Engadget HD}

Apr 8th 2008 6:44PM The latest Panny gives no reason to get an '07 HDTV. It trumps them in every way and they're no more expensive

Video is more important than audio {Engadget HD}

Feb 11th 2008 2:55PM I recently read an interesting article saying that SACD and DVD-A sound better because of higher quality recordings, not the higher bit rates. Meaning the same high quality on CD should sound as good

Feb 11th 2008 2:50PM I can't agree! I had my parents pick up a Def Tech setup(1000 ProMonitor setup) and even my mom appreciates the upgrade over their old Sony speakers and the built in speakers in their Kuro. Oddly enough I'm having a hard time convincing them to drop 10 more a month for HD service!

There's a bigger difference between a htib and a 1200 setup than a 2000 and 3000 HDTV imo

Nov 13th 2007 5:26PM It's sad but true...the PS3 is a BluRay player that happens to play games.

I'm still all for BluRay even though HD-DVD was better thought out as they haven't had to change its specs which lead to incompatibility issues that BluRay is having.

Once BluRay gets the price of their players down to $200, it's game over HD-DVD!

Toshiba HD-A2 HD DVD player: $100, this Friday, Wal-Mart {Engadget HD}

Nov 1st 2007 5:58AM I'm a BluRay fan. That said, the HD-A2 for $100 is a steal. It does a great job upconverting DVDs...I was gonna get an Oppo but this is cheaper!

Makes sense seeing how the human eye doesn't see much detail above 720p!
