Jul 16th 2008 4:30PM What was so bad about Nintendo at this year's E3? I have been sort of following it and I usually watch the press conferences via Gamespot, but I haven't yet this year because my PC speakers crapped out. All I've really noticed is the new WiiMotion peripheral (which is awesome) and the sequel to WiiSports (which is also awesome). Did Nintendo drop the ball on something specific or what?

Jul 3rd 2008 3:23PM I have one thing to say to Sony. Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to bash on a competitor's work when they were first to the market and you've had years to analyze it. It's much harder to pioneer something, and then work to improve it when it turns out to be EXTREMELY popular.

That's really sad to hear. That just goes to show that the marketing speak and useless tech specs on TVs these days really are winning over a market of consumers that don't know any better.
You basically just said that you would rather have a TV with an inferior picture than buy a 720 set with the highest quality picture you can get.
If I had the money, I would buy a 720 KURO over a 1080 anything else any day of the week. But then I actually put more stock in the important specs like contrast, color reproduction, block levels, viewing angle, etc. Ya know, the parameters that actually effect the image quality. Which is why when I was in the market almost 2 years ago, I chose a 50" 720 plasma over a 60" 1080 DLP for the same price, best decision I could have made.

Jun 24th 2008 2:38PM People know what LCD is, they are familiar with it and they understand it. You see LCD technology everywhere. In our cars, cell phones, ATM machines, TVs, computer monitors, PDAs, etc. etc. Plasmas are only in one market, televisions, and the only things people know about Plasma are the myths (burn-in, brightness life, panel life, etc.). People are unfamiliar with Plasma and are therefore afraid of it until it's explained to them by someone who knows what they're talking about, in other words not a salesman at Best Buy.

Jun 24th 2008 2:33PM Actually, American consumers are obsessed with bling and flashy buzz words and marketing numbers more than anything so they can brag to their friends. They would rather buy a 240Hz LCD with 4000x2000 resolution and a crappy picture than a 720p plasma with an amazing picture, which is why LCD is beating plasma in the market even though plasma is superior.
