Jul 18th 2008 6:27PM Twitterific will upload existing images OR take a picture directly. (The secret is the "Take Photos Directly" setting).
Not loving the idea that I have to sign up for yet ANOTHER account to use this app at all -- wish I could send tweets without signing up for a Tapulous account. This model, where I send a tweet through a Tapulous server which then sends it on to Twitter, is kind of ridiculous because now I'm at the mercy of TWO different servers that are easily overloaded.
Longtime mobile developer feels no love from Apple {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 18th 2008 3:13PM Apple needs to get all those Sudoku games, flashlights, and tip calculators up first. Priorities, people.
MobileMe not so pushy {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 15th 2008 4:17PM I guess my gripe is this: prior to this latest update, my desktop Mac would sync automatically just after I made a change, say, to the calendar. Now, it no longer automatically syncs after a change, it waits the full 15 minutes.
It seems to me that they should go back to this behavior -- don't sync every minute, just sync when there is a change to the data. That wouldn't overload servers, would it? The hack to force syncs every minute is a little ridiculous.
Apple's Bluetooth headset gets price reduction {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 13th 2008 12:02PM I guess this is good news for people like me, who have already lost that $*($! teeny tiny thing once. I may have lost the headset, but I still have the dock and cable.
Doctor Who: Midnight {TV Squad}
Jul 12th 2008 2:46PM It reminded me more of TZ's "The Monsters are Due on Maple Street." In that episode the aliens needed to only do a few tricks to freak people out, and make them turn on one another. That's exactly what happened here -- the real monsters in that cabin where the passengers.
MobileMe now really, truly up? No. {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 10th 2008 10:04PM Well, yeah, we once had a pretty useless IT guy -- when he forgot to renew our domain name, no one noticed because it still worked on the internal office DNS.
Then we discovered that to change the server domain, we had to pay MS $$$$ to send a consultant out for a minimum number of hours.
Give me a standard IMAP and SMTP server anytime where I don't have to use expensive proprietary systems (that only run on proprietary Windows boxes)...
So, yeah, the IT department has a lot to answer for in that regard.
Still, it was a little tongue-in-cheek remark, but one should know better than to bring up a MS vs. Mac topic on the web, eh?

Jul 10th 2008 8:08PM Gosh, seems to me that it IS "Exchange for the rest of us." It's certainly duplicating Exchange reliability.
NBC is now telling you to "chime in" {TV Squad}
Jul 6th 2008 9:21PM I, for one, really miss the old network promotion. Especially just before the season premieres, when the networks would show long-form promos with all their stars and a catchy theme tune. C'mon Home to NBC, anyone?
Blu-ray recordable drive for Macs {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jul 1st 2008 1:40PM When you install a second optical drive in the Mac Pro, it automatically places a little eject icon in the menubar. That lets you choose which tray to eject.
News flash: Steve Jobs is aging {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Jun 29th 2008 5:40PM Well, the "sit and wait" strategy has served the Bell System and its descendants (hello, Verizon) very well over the last century. I mean, where are the innovations from them, really? I waited decades for the Bell Picture Phone, only to have Steve Jobs include it (for free!) on my laptop.
