Comcast COO talks internet streaming, la carte pricing {Engadget HD}

Mar 16th 2009 9:15PM "We are going to convert those analog channels to digital and when you convert to digital you get a lot more capacity. You can put 15 digital channels in one analog spot."

And the people who watch analog will lose the channels (without a decrease in the analog package price) or will have to upgrade to digital (at "only" a small monthly increase in price for the service and rental box).

Which is why I'm going to a dish within the next couple of months. I've lost 8 channels in the last year (2 of which I really miss were pulled in January). If I'm forced to go digital, I'm not going to use the company that screwed me over. I will keep Comcast internet for the time being though.

Sentimental fanboys bid Palm OS farewell at Hong Kong meetup {Engadget}

Mar 16th 2009 8:57PM I got involved with the geeky hobby of geocaching a couple of years ago. I use my old Palm III XE to hold information about each location loaded on the Garmin GPS. I hadn't used the Palm in about 5 years. Tossed in a couple of AAAs and it started right up. I still remembered how to write most of the characters. I had to buy a USB/serial cable adaptor to sync the Palm to the PC because when was the last time a PC came with a serial port?

A Call for Green: AT&T to add 15,000 alt-fuel vehicles to fleet {Autoblog}

Mar 11th 2009 4:52PM From Yahoo, Feb 19th

The fundraising goal for the NAACP's centennial campaign, which lasts through the summer of 2010, is $5 million. AT&T kicked off the drive with a leadership gift of $500,000 for youth and college programs, and donated an additional $1 million in the last three years. All contributions are used to support NAACP education initiatives, community programs and events throughout the nation. Over the past 25 years, AT&T has provided more than $11 million in grants and contributions to support similar NAACP initiatives. Additionally, one of AT&T's past presidents served as the chairman of the NAACP's first corporate campaign in 1979.

AT&T has made a half million contribution to the NAACP's centennial campaign. They can go F* themselves as far as I'm concerned.

Poll: Are you ready for the digital TV transition? {Engadget HD}

Jan 3rd 2009 3:37PM "It's almost certainly going to be an enormously heavy CRT or rear projection beastie with a 4:3 aspect ratio - all but useless, "

So what. Unless you are constantly changing addresses the TV is going to stay in the same spot until it dies.

If you aren't on an antenna, nothing changes.

When it dies, it'll get replaced. Big deal.

You sound like a snob.

Dec 30th 2008 1:21PM So, Pokeys brother had a Acura TL. Costs a bit more than the average car.

But, it sounds like there may have been no health insurance if the brother and sister in law had to eat it all.

Health insurance or car, Health insurance or car?

Let's get the car.

Good prioritys.

Dec 25th 2008 6:58PM As Kimoeagle says, the NY Times is one of the most biased organizations out there. Not that everyone else is unbiased, but NYT doesn't even try to hide theirs. They lost me years ago, with their plagiarist "reporters" and stories made from whole cloth.

NASCAR Nationwide Series begins testing new race cars {Autoblog}

Sep 9th 2008 6:16PM What would Dodge bring to Nascar?

The Challenger? RWD, but it weighs over 2 tons.
Gutting everything underneath and just keeping the sheetmetal would be a waste of time. The shear size of the things would mean it wouldn't win.

Or are you saying they can't play?
