Fixing a clothes dryer that won't dry {DIY Life}

Jan 28th 2008 11:18AM Any ideas for the opposite problem? My clothes dryer runs too HOT, even on "low heat". Tends to shrink and wear out clothes prematurely. How can I dial the heating element down a few notches? Can the thermostat be adjusted?

iPod touch gets its first review {Engadget}

Sep 13th 2007 10:51AM Frank, I hope for a double-click shortcut on the iPhone, but the dial pad isn't the best use for it. I rarely dial from the dial pad, usually referencing my contacts instead.

BMW 1-series is coming. For real this time. Just don't ask when. {Autoblog}

Nov 21st 2006 9:40AM I guess this isn't really surprising. Just like every other car manufacturer, BMW has been moving their entry-level volume seller upmarket and now needs to replace it with something. Remember when you could get a new 3-series for $25k?

I guess in a few years when the 1-series costs $40k they'll have to come out with a 0-series?

Microsoft's Zune ads do not work for me {AdJab}

Nov 6th 2006 8:04PM I think the title of this blog post is funny. Clearly the Zune ads DID work for you, in that they caused you to blog about them and therefore direct traffic towards them. I would not have even known about these ads, but as a result of this post, I watched every Zune post in its entirety.

That viral marketing sure is sneaky!

I bet the ad agency creatives that made these marketing videos are a pretty cool bunch. Does that make the Zune cool? Not really. The ads were probably storyboarded on Macs by iPod-toting hipsters anyway.

When your product DOESN'T speak for itself, as in the case of Zune, these types of "lifestyle" ads are necessary.

Aug 8th 2006 9:13PM I bet this will be an iPod killer just like N-Gage was a Gameboy killer.

Motorola's 9mm MOTOFONE {Engadget}

Jul 25th 2006 7:27PM You guys do realize that cell phone feature bloat (which I hate) is not really geared towards the consumer. It's mainly at the behest of the carriers:
Web browser = $ Data plan
Camera phone = $ Picture messaging
Push-to-talk = $ Monthly add-on fees
Streaming video = $ Mobile TV services
Crappy included ringtones = $ Better ones for sale
User that just makes tons of calls = low revenue, barely enough margin to cover costs.

One of the most important metrics for the carriers is ARPU (average revenue per user).

So the challenge might be getting carriers to add this to their lineup. Especially if it cannibalizes sales of phones with data features.
