How does the iPhone stack up in total cost? {Engadget}
Jun 26th 2007 5:23PM Technically you can't have the Mediamax with blackjack, but large numbers of blackjack users have managed to get their phones working with unlimited data with that plan. Start reading your smartphone forums. You have to find a good rep or know how to con a stupid one to set it up correctly.
How does the iPhone stack up in total cost? {Engadget}
Jun 26th 2007 5:13PM Actually your right the family plans are miscalculated!!! Att has changed it! Its $69.99 for TWO lines and $9.99 for additional!!!
It used to be $59.99 for first line and $9.99 for second. (The plan I have now)
The current state of the format war: no end in sight {Engadget HD}
Jan 30th 2007 9:06AM Blu-Ray can't win as long as there is HD DVD only content. Until all the studios fully support Blu-Ray its not going to win. Sony's arrogance again perpetuates the entire process. They shun the porn industry and they choose a junk format for interactivity just to try to "Stick it to Microsoft." Sure with the PS3, blue-ray will kill HD-DVD in sales for a few years, but your average movie watcher in the long run is not going to be buying a ps3 to watch movies. In the end we'll all have Hybrid players imo...
iHD, HDi? Nope it's called Advanced Navigation {Engadget HD}
Jan 26th 2007 9:02AM HDi is great from a programmers perspective. It fully supports .NET and Microsoft is very good at releasing and supporting SDK's that make programming HDi interactivity SO much easier. BDJ is based off Java which I suppose could hypothetically do the same stuff as HDi, but no one wants to take the time to do it with the unreliable and arcane Java implementation.
LG's KE850 PRADA official: iPhone says, wha? {Engadget}
Jan 18th 2007 9:02AM The problem with those removable drives is that the manufacturers never fully support the newest cards. So in LG's case you're most likely stuck with a 2gb max card or the ever so irritating card-swapping… I take the integrated 8gb any day.
Live from the EchoStar press conference {Engadget}
Jan 16th 2007 9:15AM You can't begrudge them for upgrading their equipment. I applaud them. I got the standard 622 DVR when it came out. I've held off on the HD DVR's because every time they've come out with one there was always room for obvious improvement. When I saw the ViP622 for the first time I was impressed, but it was still only 90% there; it needed a bigger hard drive for HD recording. I knew I had to hold off a little bit longer and I'm glad I did.
New Xbox 360 due for late '07 to handle IPTV? {Engadget HD}
Jan 14th 2007 10:53AM I don't necessarily think you can safely draw the conclusion that the old 360's will not be upgraded IPTV. Everyone seems to be assuming that.
What is obvious is that a 120gb w/HDMI 360 is more media friendly and my guess is that when more content is rolled out, studios will release more HD content for the Xbox 360 w/HDMI, while the old 360 will get the SD versions.
Either way no one has the 20mbit/s bandwidth needed to stream HD content over the internet, so your still stuck with a pay-per-download-to-view service for HDTV. (Unless of course AT&T manages to own up their fiber lines for consumers promise, which I don't see happening in the next 5 years)
PS3 doesn't do 1080i? {Engadget}
Jan 14th 2007 10:21AM Don't be a moron; don't post if you don't know what you are talking about. Pretty much every rear projection CRT HDTV bought a few years ago only supports 480i 480p and 1080i. If you put 720p to those tv's they will display garbage. Every digital box (Samsung, Comcast, Dish network) outputs all the networks at 1080i with no problem.
