Jul 2nd 2008 7:04PM Its pretty clear that SDV is the way of the future, as it allows cable to offer more channels without losing quality, and they will need to do this to keep up with FIOS and Sat. That said, the cable co's more or less nerfed cablecard version 1.0... why won't they make the next generation tru2way cablecards equally unattractive to the average home user.

Jun 30th 2008 9:58PM As much as I like mkv, I just don't see it replacing .mp4 . Probably the wost side effect of iPod dominance is that any video that's meant for portable playback more or less has to be mp4. mp4's also have support with the PS3 and 360, so they win with hardware support over the mkv. We all love our scene releases in mkvs, but I can't do anything with them beyond the PC, where mp4s seem to have a head start.

Jun 4th 2008 5:43PM I think I picked a great time to switch. Between this and Comcast's bandwidth tests, I think a lot of high end customers will switch (and others just get screwed).

May 28th 2008 5:25AM This title more than any other would get me to go Blu. From the earlier post at the quality difference between the SD release and HD remaster, I think it would be awesome.

Will there just be a cut off date like the analog broadcast cut off date and people with CableCard Media Centers will just be out of luck if they haven't upgraded? Are we talking like 5-10 years before we see this tech or like 24 months, or like October?

May 17th 2008 1:05PM A lot of my news content is in SD, and with half of my HD channels are encrypted QAM, I find myself watching SD unencrypted QAM over the HD encrypted variant.
