Poll: What is the best Blu-ray player? {Engadget HD}

Oct 27th 2009 9:54PM I have to agree. I've auditioned several BD players over the last year. The Oppo BDP83 via HDMI is on the top of my list. If you require analog, not my first choice as it's analog section is nothing special. As a digital transport, top notch.

Meijer's brand new $99 (shipped) Blu-ray player brings joy to skinflints everywhere {Engadget HD}

Jun 19th 2009 1:43PM Some of you guys are funny.. Champagne taste with beer budgets. Over the past several months some people have been complaining about the price of Bluray players and would buy if it was under $200.00 or less. Here you are.. a $99 player and people are concerned about video quality?? What are you expecting for $99 anyway?

Sears Black Friday deals slip out: Sony Blu-ray player for $179.99 {Engadget HD}

Oct 27th 2008 2:46PM The S550 has multichannel analog out (via 7.1 rca ports) on the back of the player. As the S350 only has analog stereo out. If you have an HDMI 1.1 receiver or prepro, the S350 will do. Also, the S350 didn't ship with profile 2.0 (available through firmware update) I think the S550 shipps with profile 2.0

HD movies featuring stereo sound in PlayStation Video Store {Engadget HD}

Jul 18th 2008 3:47PM That's a joke. I'm an owner of a PS3 and the XBOX 360. Honestly, I don't see any value in renting anything from the Sony store and pay $1.99 and $4.99 for HD with Netflix on the horizon for the 360. Considering it's part of your Netflix subscription also makes it easier on the wallet. I'm wondering if Sony would ever consider the Netflix route?

Mark Levinson ships activity-based No. 502 Media Console {Engadget HD}

Jul 13th 2008 8:01PM Nice looking unit but 30k? paa-lease... and hdmi 1.1 is just icing on the cake. This think will depreciate by 80% inside of 12 months and at MSRP that's no joke.

Niveus Movie Library goes gold {Engadget HD}

May 9th 2008 5:30PM That's great but the process to rip movies and try to get them to work in Media Center is not an easy task especially trying to get an extender to read them. Yes, you can make it work but it's a long and unstable process. At least with this, you rip and you're on your way.
