Black Friday Giveaways (part 4): Mirra Personal Server (80GB) {Engadget}
Nov 23rd 2007 5:39AM I'll take one!!!
Hush Technologies' HS1 Home Server now available {Engadget}
Nov 22nd 2007 5:52PM Yes it's expensive, but if you want a silent home server in your A/V room I don't think anyone is offering anything cheaper. This is aimed at the A/V enthusiasts crowd. These are types that wouldn't bat an eye at spending $20K+ on a home theater. Personally I'm cool with my $500 homebuilt HTPC and $99 HD DVD player.
Asus' Eee PC 4G Surf now available to order {Engadget}
Nov 21st 2007 5:24PM Just ordered one from Newegg. As far as connectivity it has USB which can be tethered to a cell phone for broadband speeds via Verizon.
Moneual's 972 Home Media Server hearts Blu-ray {Engadget}
Nov 14th 2007 10:29AM They are useful for people with Home Theater Rooms and projectors. They want to be able to access their music without firing up the projector. For the rest of it does seem like a waste.
European Blu-ray Chairman calls HD DVD Group's actions "unbelievable" {Engadget}
Nov 13th 2007 1:49PM Gee he sounds upset. Did the HD DVD camp proclaim "the war was over" and that they "were the winners" or something? I mean the Blu Ray camp would never be that arrogant and pompous would they? :)
MGM takes 'Ronin' and 'Red Dawn' off the table for 2007 {Engadget HD}
Nov 12th 2007 4:01PM Maybe Ronin doesn't look any better on HD than the SD because it was shot a while ago? Perhaps they are doing their customers a favor or they fear litigation due to advertised PQ increases that aren't there. Just a thought, I can't see any marketing reason why they wouldn't want to profit off the HD format. They are selling most HD movies (though miniscule in #s) at almost double the price.
The Bourne Ultimatum DVD / HD DVD combo disc landing on December 11th {Engadget HD}
Nov 9th 2007 3:28AM You should really learn how to read English and not accuse posters of "making things up". At no point did I write that the difference in Blu Ray to HD DVD is $10. I wrote the difference between a combo disc and a regular disc (HD DVD) is around $10. I just bought an HD DVD player and the average price of a combo disc was $35 and non-combo disc $25. My point is still valid. Most HD DVD users don't want to be forced to pay a $10 premium for a combo disc and it is something the BD camp can use against HD DVD.
The Bourne Ultimatum DVD / HD DVD combo disc landing on December 11th {Engadget HD}
Nov 9th 2007 1:18AM The combo disc idea is would be great if they'd keep the MSRP the same as a regular disc. I can't believe it cost another $10 to make it. So by getting greedy they are hurting themselves in the "war". As soon as the BD camp starts pointing out the HD DVDs are more expensive it will sway some purchasers their way.
BTW I believe neither format will win and both formats will co-exist until downloadable replaces them both.
Asus' 2G Surf Eee PC: a taste of Spring in January {Engadget}
Nov 8th 2007 11:54AM Is no one upset about the price hike? First they announce $199, then $259 and now $299. Not cool seems like bait and switch. I guess if no one else steps up with a competitive product they will get away with it.
Black Eee PCs arriving soon {Engadget}
Nov 7th 2007 1:04AM A great product in a great segment but where @#$%^ are the $199, I mean $259 ones? First they start off with $399, now we are getting $419. We are going the wrong direction and I'm starting to get POd. Keep it up Asus and I'll forget all about your product and put my credit card back in my pocket.
