LA 2008: Nissan debuts all-new 370Z [w/VIDEO] {Autoblog}
Nov 19th 2008 2:52PM Yes, 95lbs lighter. The chassis itself is heavier, so the weight reduction in parts like the wheels were only compensating for the heavier chassis. Put lighter wheels and exhaust on an earlier Z, and you'll end up with a lighter overall car.
VIDEO: Michael Schumacher saunters around 'Ring in Ferrari California {Autoblog}
Oct 9th 2008 10:32AM It's not a real Ferrari because the engine is in the wrong place. That doesn't make it a bad car, but it's not a proper Ferrari. This car has more in common with a Jaguar XK, for example, than it does an F40.

Oct 7th 2008 12:48PM Twin turbos on a 5-cylinder? Not likely.
OETTINGER tuned Scirocco one mean hot hatch {Autoblog}
Oct 7th 2008 9:22AM Sex? How about impotency. That's what this car screams to me. It's a capable car that's been crippled.
As a suspension designer, I cringe when I see a car lowered this much. It's especially bad on a car with struts, as lowering the car drops the car's roll center much faster than the center of gravity, increasing body roll and decreasing stability. To compensate, I'm sure the spring rates have skyrocketed, but this has numerous drawbacks as well.
Add to that the huge, heavy, but yet still skinny wheels that would hit the fender in real driving, and you've got a car that I'd quite honestly bet is worse than stock, handling-wise.
Sex? Hardly. I think if you saw this car in motion, you'd be laughing, not turned on.
Canon's EOS 5D Mark II gets painstakingly detailed {Engadget}
Sep 17th 2008 10:46AM All the comments on dpreview.com are bashing this camera for having high-noise images, a slow continuous shutter speed, and a behind-the-times autofocus. I hope these criticisms are premature and unjustified, though the sample image seen there was very unflattering.
Obama a Prius? Palin a Camaro? Politics get revved up {Autoblog}
Sep 9th 2008 8:09AM The Prius is subsidized with yours and my tax dollars. So yes, Obama is definitely a Prius, in that they're both mechanisms for wasting tax revenue.
Report: In 2020, all cars will be hybrids, Toyota think so too {Autoblog}
Aug 15th 2008 5:54PM Right. Cause we don't need plastic. You do realize how much we make from oil, right?
And that if you take the government subsidies out of hybrids, which our country can't afford, that they make no fiscal sense?
Oil is here to stay, and it's not a bad thing.
Nissan ECO Pedal puts pressure on lead foots {Autoblog}
Aug 4th 2008 2:44PM What's the point of having torque if it isn't available? Instead of having a car with a big engine that resists letting the driver use it, just recalibrate the electronic throttle body position against the gas pedal feedback. So many cars jump to high throttle inputs with just tiny pedal inputs to make the tiny engines feel more eager to pull. Get rid of that and let drivers think for themselves.
For those that truly want every fuel-efficiency band-aid, it makes much more sense to just use a smaller, more fuel-efficient engine (perhaps an Atkinson-cycle, like hybrids) that you can drive at its limits. Engines are very inefficient when restrained to partial throttle, which this technology seems designed to maintain.
Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart priced at $26,490 {Autoblog}
Jul 31st 2008 9:48PM The WRX is many hundreds of pounds lighter, so no. The power-to-weight ratios aren't even close. The Ralliart had AYC going for it back when it was rumored to be part of the package, but with that gone, I don't think there's anything compelling here.
2009 Subaru Impreza WRX: 265 hp, retuned suspension, STI tweaks {Autoblog}
Jul 31st 2008 9:02AM I was hoping 2009 would be the year for direct fuel injection. We know Subaru is working on it... so maybe 2010? C'mon, stop delaying!
