Jan 27th 2008 10:37PM Why do people fall for eco-propaganda so easily? Sure in theory electric vehicles are great, as are hybrids. In practice they're garbage. A current hybrid (when you consider the premium price, battery disposal, expensive maintenance, and minimal MPG gains) is far less environmentally friendly than an efficient diesel. Bio-diesel is a nearly viable alternative fuel, and requires almost no effort for the conversion. Fuel cells are still the most promising solution to the issue, but the technology needs more time to mature.
If the fuel/car companies were trying to keep a stranglehold on the market they would be targeting bio-fuel, and hydrogen cell technologies. They are more likely to invest in alternative fuel research, and infrastructure to ensure their future profitability.

Jan 16th 2008 5:15PM I suppose the bell would be more durable, but I'd use an electronic horn strobe. They've got adjustable decibel levels (2008 NFPA 72 code will bring them up to a minimum of 110 dB), and adjustable candela for the strobes (going as high as 185). If the near ear damaging screeching doesn't wake you the blindingly bright strobe will. Oh an you can set the horns to temporal, coded, or constant. Just don't use more than one if you don't like seizures.

Jan 4th 2008 10:10PM I'm amazed at how easily everyone over looks a clear business decision, just so they can whine about wasted money. If worldwide Blu-ray sales are many time higher than HD-DVD why would any company switch to HD-DVD only?
The decision is a simple one. Switch to the better selling format, kill the format war, and spur on widespread adoption of next-gen players. There are many households that have not bought into either camp, and will not until there is a clear winner. Thats a lot of money just waiting for such a move before being deposited into their bank account.
