Digital Masterworks Art-TV could switch between TV and art display {Engadget HD}

Jun 4th 2008 6:29PM Nice idea, but I would barf in my mouth if I had to look at Thomas Kinkade's art all day long. Could you upload your own or other artwork to this?

Ask Engadget HD: When does contrast ratio fail to matter on an LCD? {Engadget HD}

Apr 2nd 2008 1:30PM Do contrast and black levels really mean anything if there's crushing of dark greys that go along with it? As far as LCDs go, it seems that there's more crushing of blacks as the contrast goes up.

Pioneer to stop making 42-inch plasmas {Engadget HD}

Feb 25th 2008 12:28PM So, does this mean that Pioneer will still make 42-inch plasmas, but just source the glass from Panasonic instead of making it in house?

And how does this affect the "Kuroness" of future 42-inch Pioneer plasmas, if the glass is different?

Netflix's CFO on HD movies rental rates and the future of discs {Engadget HD}

Feb 8th 2008 8:02PM "As we've seen discussed online many times recently, HD downloads leave a lot left to be desired -- some content doesn't even seem it deserves the HD name -- and Netflix just makes it so easy."

Reminds me of a quote from back in the day:

"Never underestimate the bandwidth of a station wagon filled with tapes on the highway."

Recent survey suggests plasmas preferred over LCDs {Engadget HD}

Jul 5th 2007 2:47PM The results of the study are not too surprising. Although many people seem to prefer plasma over LCD in a controlled side by side environment, in a store bright TV's sell better. This has been true even back when all TV's were CRT-based. Add in the fact that at many sizes LCD's are just going to be cheaper than plasma, and fear, rightly or wrongly, about burn in, and you have LCD's winning out when it comes down to a purchasing decision.

iTunes vs iTunes Plus: an audible difference? {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jun 4th 2007 12:52PM Doesn't anyone listen to real stereo systems anymore?

As good as the Shures are, if you do this type of test through a regular stereo system with real speakers, the differences are very obvious.

Making the switch: App for app {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Apr 16th 2007 2:06PM I would like a full fledged mp3 id3 tag editor for OS X. The program I used to use in Windows was Tag & Rename, and nothing exists in OS X that has the same features.

Sharp's new Aquos lineup {Engadget HD}

Jan 8th 2007 5:20AM Are there any differences between the D82U series and the current D62U, and the D43U series and the current D42U?

TUAW Resolutions: Organize iTunes {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Dec 31st 2006 10:54AM I've read many times that one person or another doesn't like iTunes' default library management, and that they go and organize their MP3's using their own system. What is never explained is how exactly the new system is better than the /Artist/Album hierarchy that iTunes uses in the default iTunes folder, with compilation albums going into its own folder. That seems like a perfectly good system to me.

Erica, can you provide more detail as to how you organize your music files, and what you like about your system better than the iTunes system?
