Epic (Mickey) trade: Disney swaps Al Michaels for Oswald {Joystiq}

Oct 16th 2009 10:08AM I think it would be a mistake to say that the entire value of the character Oswald is around this game. There is the historic value that it was Walt Disney's first featured character, I have to think that owning that history would be invaluable to the house that Walt built.

Review: Rocketfish Rapid Fire PS3 Controller {Joystiq}

Sep 23rd 2009 6:00PM I would love a PS3 controller designed like the 360 controller. The PS3 triggers are just awkward and uncomfortable in my hands. The 360 controller is a nice natural fit and most of the time I forget it is there.

However I'm not sure how practical this is as designers build games around the layout of the PS3 controller.

Zune HD gaming apps feature interstitial ads {Joystiq}

Sep 19th 2009 7:46PM This is the most overrated tech story in some time. It keeps popping up everywhere and I can't fathom what the fuss is all about. I could see the point if the games were being sold and then contained these advertisements. But ad-supported software is nothing new. In fact isn't it somewhat hypoccritical for a AD SUPPORTED BLOG to condemn MS for publishing AD SUPPORTED games?

Also your story is misleading. It gives the impression that all games ever on the Zune will have these Ads. There has been no such announcment or any reason to believe every game you ever download will force you to watch Ads.

Joystiq, I love you guys, this website consumes more time of my day then any other. But I'm disappointed the story in this form made it past the editors.

'All You Need is Love' becomes fastest-selling Rock Band song {Joystiq}

Sep 18th 2009 4:39PM Considering it is the only DLC for the game at this point AND the majority of people who bought the game are Beatles fan AND it is one of the Beatles most popular songs... It would have been bigger news if it wasn't the fastest selling track ever.

Star Wars: Jedi Knight series arrives on Steam in force {Joystiq}

Sep 17th 2009 9:52AM That stinks, those games had an amazing soundtrack.

Rock Band Network Store coming to PS3, Wii players out of luck {Joystiq}

Aug 27th 2009 9:30AM I'm wondering if this is maybe a temporary solution. XNA is based off Microsoft's Visual Studio which is easy to extend and add custom tooling into. I also wonder if there might be any licensing and distribution advantages as MS has built XNA to get indie games distributed to the 360.

This could all come to the PS3 but it might just take more time and resources to build.

Rumor: Best Buy offering new PS3 buyers a free game to discourage Slim trade-ins {Joystiq}

Aug 26th 2009 10:49AM I went to my local Best Buy in Midwest City, Oklahoma yesterday to pick up Batman. At the door they had a table with a stack of PS3 Slims and Batman on PS3. I wasn't expecting to see the slims on shelves this quickly.

On another note while the table had a stack of Batman on PS3 the 360 version was no where to be found. I went back to the game section to find it wasn't with the other 360 games either. I caught the attention of a blue shirt and he had no clue where the 360 version was at. He went to the media storage area in the back and couldn't find it there either. He went and asked a couple of more people and found out that all the 360 copies of the game was locked in a cabinet by the cashier area. While I was there two or three people came by looking for the game and left without it because they assumed they were out or didn't carry it.

I regularly buy my games from Best Buy and I've never seen them put a game out of sight like that. My guess is they are trying to use Batman to drive some extra PS3 sales.

Dell Studio XPS 13 and 16 turn white, we fall in love {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2009 10:24AM @Andrew Moulton,
I am running Crysis with no issues on Windows 7 x64 (RC and RTM). I'm using the Windows 7 drivers from ATI and I installed all the Crysis patch's. I've played it a couple of hours and not had any issues.

Dell Studio XPS 13 and 16 turn white, we fall in love {Engadget}

Aug 26th 2009 10:17AM @Matt

I've had this laptop for almost a month and it is simply the best laptop I've ever owned. The LED Screen puts my 24" Dell LCD to shame. I use CS4 and Lightroom, both run great and I love the monitor for graphics editing. I also went with the Blu-Ray, SSD, and the 1GB Radeon options. The SSD is quiet and SUPER fast. I do development and my Visual Studio build times have been cut in half due to the speed of the SSD. I was able to run the HDMI port to my TV and get full 1080p and 5.1 surround. Blu-Ray movies look and sound great running from the laptop onto my entertainment system. As for gaming I was able to run Crysis at 1080p with High settings and I've really enjoyed playing Tales of Monkey Island on my TV while relaxing on the couch.

The biggest downside is it gets hot when you are running anything graphic intensive. You wouldn't want to do much gaming or movie watching with it in your lap. However while running applications or just browsing the web this isn't a problem.

I think it should be able to run Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 just fine, but as I don't know the system requirments for the games I can't really say for sure. But I think for the price this is one of the better all-in-one gaming/multimedia laptops around.
