Review: V - Pilot (series premiere) {TV Squad}
Nov 4th 2009 7:47AM I always hoped they would made this a continuation of the original. At the end of the second miniseries from the 80's (I think) the humans sent out a distress signal to the enemies of the Visitors. The Visitor's planet was 10 (or something like that) light years away, so they figured it would take 20 years to get help. Showing what the Earth would have been like after 20 years of Visitor rule would have been interesting. (Not counting the dumb ending of the TV series where the hybird love child magically stopped all the destruction.)
Warehouse 13: Nevermore {TV Squad}
Sep 17th 2009 11:27AM This show is getting better. Still not BSG caliber, but it is headed in the right direction.
Ceton is set to take over the CableCARD PC tuner market {Engadget HD}
Sep 11th 2009 7:56PM SIGN ME UP! I'll be buying a tuner ( or more ) the first day available for my home built HTPC. If this thing is on the horizon, I'll wait for it.
The OEM cable card PC's scared the heck out of me. There was no way I was dumping all that cash down a hole that Cable Labs could kill at any moment.
Warehouse 13: Elements {TV Squad}
Aug 5th 2009 3:15PM I want to like this show, I really do. Every week I come back and every week I spend the entire episode wondering if my dog needs a Snuggie.
Warehouse 13: Magnetism {TV Squad}
Jul 22nd 2009 6:23PM Too much Ghostbusters and not enough X-Files.
This show could have been so much better. They should have started out with some more 'believable' episodes. Track down some random lost Edison invention, not a chair that's been sat in too much.
TBS might save My Name is Earl {TV Squad}
Jun 9th 2009 1:05PM First two seasons of Earl were great and believable. Camden was messed up, but the people were real. Then Earl went to prison and his brother became a guard and Craig T. Nelson was the warden. The show never recovered from that. All it needed to focus on was the list, no more - no less. Darnell as a special agent was insulting. They could have done so much better. RIP Earl.
24: 1:00AM - 2:00AM {TV Squad}
Apr 14th 2009 10:01AM For a while, I was wondering if Jack would die and Tony would take over as the main hero of 24 next season. Guess that option is out.
Tony has to be a bad guy now. There is too much flip flop with his character. The end of this season will come down to a confrontation between Jack and Tony.
Also, I'm losing my willingness to let some details slide in this season. Washington DC seems just business as usual even though the White House was attacked hours before. Assassinated Senator, no big deal. Military action in Sengala (sp?), no big deal. President wimps out on launching attack from two only F-18s, no big deal. FBI shows up at Starkwood with only 20 guys, no big deal. President's daughter sleeps with reporter and walks out with perfect hair, no big deal. President's husband gets kidnapped and almost killed, no big deal. The list could go on and on.
In previous seasons all we had to believe was that cell phone batteries last forever and people don't need sleep. This season has been a tad much. I expect more from this show.
Parks and Recreation: Make My Pit a Park (series premiere) {TV Squad}
Apr 10th 2009 7:39AM The show was good, but not great. I'll watch a few more times before I make a final decision. Definately DVR worthy to watch on nights when nothing is on.
As 'My Name is Earl' slips further and further away from anything remotely humorous, I'm looking for some good comedy. P&R may not be it, but at least it's new and hasn't let me down like 'Earl' has over the last two seasons.
Battlestar Galactica: Daybreak, Part 1 {TV Squad}
Mar 14th 2009 8:26AM The song could easily have been something the cylons imprint on everyone so they can find their way back to the colony in case they get lost. 'If found, please return this cyclon to the singularity. Thank you.'
Also, do you think it was good makeup for the flashbacks to Caprica, or is this footage shot long ago and never used. Star Trek TNG did something similiar in their final episode.
Was their any significance to the name of the man Roslin mentioned on the phone during her flashback? Was this the old President she was having the affair with?
Battlestar Galactica: No Exit {TV Squad}
Feb 14th 2009 4:21PM I think we're forgetting something. All of this happened before and it will all happen again.
So, let's look at the current situation. Eventually, the humanoid (good) cyclons will defeat the bad cylons and the good ones will leave the fleet and go find their own planet, just like the 13th Tribe went to Earth. The remaining human fleet will go find their own planet(s). When they part, everyone will promise never to develop artificial intelligence.
Then generations will pass and the promise will be forgotten. The humanoid cyclons will develop AI and it will destory them, just like Earth. A small number of them will escape and go to warn their old friends of the promise to stay away from AI. However, by the time they get there it will be too late. These humanoid cyclons will make a deal with the AI and the whole story repeats.
