Metareview: Madden NFL 09 All-Play {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Aug 13th 2008 5:29PM I own a 360 and a Wii. Haven't bought Madden in 3-4 years because the 360 version is just way to complex to be fun. I don't play enough to get good, I just want to mess around occasionally and play against some friends online.

Should I get the Wii version, the 360 version, or go back and plug in my old Nintendo and play some Super Tecmo Bowl (quite possibly the best footgall game ever)?

Console numbers released: Xbox 360 tops 10M US sales, 9.2M PS3s sold worldwide last year {Engadget}

May 14th 2008 9:07PM All these stats miss one important piece of information. A LOT of people have more than one system. I own a 360 and a Wii. These stories make it sound like once someone buys a system, they are tied to that forever. I'm willing to bet a lot of folks who read this site own all three systems. I'd really like to see one of these stories deal with the overlap.

My Name is Earl: Midnight Bun {TV Squad}

Nov 17th 2007 8:36AM I was a little relieved by this episode. Last week's 'Other Cops' episode was terrible and I had the feeling the show was totally falling apart.

Please get Earl out of prison. The warden is unbelievable and annoying. The beauty of this show is that everyone is messed up, but somehow believable. The whole prison thing is worthless.

Are CableCARDs a success? {Engadget HD}

Oct 2nd 2007 2:45PM I would be interested to know if anyone has had a truly great experience with Cablecard. Or even a 'somewhat painless' experience.

I had one in my TV for 5 days, and it was a disaster. All I wanted was the ability to watch HD television, no Tivo, no cablebox, just television. The installers were clueless and phone support really didn't understand what I was talking about.

Cablecard is going nowhere until it just works, right out of the box and that is never going to happen.

Does Media Center have a future? {Engadget HD}

Sep 30th 2007 7:16AM Think about the number of companies Microsoft has to work with to make this thing operate. Local cable, Time Warner, Comcast, Dish, Direct TV, movie studios, record labels, Sony, etc. I'm sure the number is well over one hundred.

Now consider the fact that most of these companies compete with one another directly and indirectly.

Now consider that with all the lawsuits Microsoft has faced, they can't just go the Apple route and jam their system straight to the consumer. That would be anti-competitive and monopolistic.

So, what we get is what we have. A system that works, but really doesn't satsify all the consumer's needs because a bunch of industry players are too busy bickering to care.

Dennis Dyack wonders where Wii will be years from now {Nintendo Wii Fanboy}

Sep 28th 2007 12:20PM I have an original Xbox, an Xbox360, and the Wii. By far, the Wii is the most fun. I can play Tiger Woods with my buddies, or Wii Sports Golf with my 4 year old and 3 year old.

The Xbox360 is great for Madden on XboxLive vs. my buddies online, but its far too complex for me to really get into.

The Wii will be around far longer than anyone thinks. Partly because a huge number of people have no problem owning two consoles.

The Wii is fun, the 360 is cool and complex and will do alright, but the PS3 is probably doomed for failure (Atari 5200???).

Just my thoughts.

Details about DirecTV's new HDTV channels continue to emerge {Engadget HD}

Sep 4th 2007 6:56AM Question, for those of you who get some of these now via satellite. Are they the same feed as the regular channel or are they on a different schedule all together?

One thing I hate about our current HD service via cable is that HGTV and HGTV-HD are never showing the same shows.

Is satellite any better/different?

NASA draws up plans for nuke-packing asteroid interceptor {Engadget}

Aug 8th 2007 5:25PM I'm obiviously missing something because those NASA guys should be smarter than me, but how does a nuclear weapon work in space. I was under the impression that most of the damage caused was by overpressure as the air rushed away from the explosion. There is no air in space, so how does this work? Serious answers appreciated, but working Bruce Willis into the example will give extra points.

Battlestar Galactica: Rapture {TV Squad}

Jan 23rd 2007 12:27PM Sunday night at 10:00 is a terrible slot for this show. A note to SCIFI, this show will become one of the most DVR'd shows on TV and we will all skip the commercials. This was a serious mistake for the network and will cost the show in the long run.

I agree with the comment that this show is becoming too much like the X-Files. BSG is still one of the best shows on TV, but it is slipping.

I want to know when we will see the Cylon home world and when the old fashioned Cylons are going to make an appearance.

MS: Less than 50% of 360 owners had Xbox 1 {Xbox 360 Fanboy}

Jan 18th 2007 3:40PM Question:

I currently use my old Xbox as an extender for my Media Center PC. Once (if) I upgrade to Vista, the old Xbox is worthless from an extender standpoint. How hard is it to set up the Xbox Media Center mentioned above for someone that is not super technical?

Thanks.
