Got any tips for archiving / streaming DVDs? {Engadget HD}
Jul 13th 2008 2:56AM You said nothing in your original post about HD content. It is true that HD is between 20-30Mbps. This should still be alright over a 10/100Mbps network (which most all modern devices will operate at 100Mbps). The kicker with HD content is that the receiving device has enough CPU and RAM to handle the stream properly.

Jul 12th 2008 12:47PM DrXym, you are smoking crack. Streaming is perfectly fine on 10/100 LAN. You don't need gigabit ethernet to stream video or audio. Now if only the PS3 acted like my XBOX/XBMC easily, without the server overhead.

TiVo's win over DISH Network upheld by court of appeals: It's over {Engadget HD}
Apr 11th 2008 3:46PM I believe that all of the currently in use DVR's have had their software changed to be non-infringing. This will not impact current Dish DVR subscribers.

Apr 11th 2008 3:39PM Can someone tell me why Tivo's are better? I keep reading these statements, but there isn't any supporting data given. I can't imagine what is there that warrants the additional money every month.

Apr 7th 2008 3:57PM I sent my rebate in at the end of November. A buddy of mine sent his in the same week and received his 5 in January. I have given up on getting them at all. No big deal. The titles they made available weren't really good anyway.

Apr 7th 2008 2:49PM I did, but never received them. Yet another reason I have no problems taking advantage of this.

Apr 7th 2008 2:09PM For me it isn't a flat out loss. I owned a PS3 before the pre-BF sale and love it. I only purchased the HDA2 because there were some red titles I wanted to watch. I never purchased any movies, instead relying solely on Netflix. Since the format war has ended, I have had this feeling of waste in the A2, and now I can get that refund. This is going to work out wonderfully for me.
