Netflix instant streaming demoed on PlayStation 3 (updated with more video!) {Engadget HD}

Nov 7th 2009 1:44AM With PPV, you PAY for each and every movie you watch. Just like any Normal movies you see on the PS3 you have to PAY.

Netflix is a Monthly subscription service. For like a low of $8.99 a month, you get 1 DVD sent to you at a time to watch which is good for those movies that are ONLY on DVD, and you also get UNLIMITED Movie streaming. 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. That means watch 1 movie or 100 movies all for the SAME PRICE. So PPV it's costing you what $3.99 or so each?

You can also get 2 disc's at a time or 3 Disc's out at a time for more money, and of course that would allow you to also stream to 2 devices at once or 3 devices at once also. With just 1 Disc at a time, you can at least average 4 DVD's a month, 1 a week or more. If you want Blu-Ray's, it's a bit more per month. Buy 1 Blu-Ray, or 2-3 months of Netflix with pretty much all the movies you could possibly want? My list is HUGE, I don't need Blu-Ray quality for everything. There's a lot of great classics to see, even newer stuff. If all you care about seeing is NEW MOVIES, then Netflix really isn't for you.

Netflix shipping out PS3 instant streaming discs! {Engadget HD}

Nov 5th 2009 9:45PM If you want to watch Netflix on your PS3, you NEED the disc each and every time. There's nothing your installing on the PS3 to make it work where you can then give the disc to your friend to use later. Not until SONY builds it directly into the Interface like the XBox 360 which won't happen until next year!!!

Spring Design sues Barnes & Noble over the Nook {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2009 11:54PM Looks like a even bigger battery drain. I don't like it. I want to read a book, not watch Video's and stuff, I might as well buy a netbook or something else then. A single Color Eink display might be ok, not really a big deal to me as I could care less about seeing a color book cover and the books I read don't have color pictures in them. That just incresses costs when prices need to get in the $99 range to get more mainstream. My new Kindle 2i works great. Does all it needs to. The battery lasts for a very long time before needing a recharge. I'm glad for more compitition, it gets better hardware at lower prices. A better ebook reader, YES, another all in one can't do any single 1 thing great and daily battery charging, NO.

PlayStation Home 'not a priority right now' for Sony, most people seem to feel the same way (update: misquote) {Engadget}

Nov 2nd 2009 10:42PM I don't know if Sony IS or IS NOT working on HOME or really cares about it at this time. Maybe later, maybe not. I though even before it was released in BETA that it was garbage. I'd say the same thing if it came out for the 360. The Avatars on the 360 are almost worthless, though it's cool to see all the different ones with the 1 Vs 100 Game. People want to play GAMES, watch a Blu-Ray or stream Netflix, not walk about in a Virtual World. Talk about a waste of time and a boor fest. The long load times don't help. The whole concept I thought was flawed. You try it once, and that's it.

Now maybe on the PS4, it'd be built into the system from the start and when the system boots up, you start there, and there's no load times, and much more useful right from the start. As it was, it was to little to late.

Entelligence: Of ebooks and suburban moms {Engadget}

Nov 1st 2009 9:45PM Back lighting is a waste. You might as well use a PC then. A Cheap book light is all you need. I can easily see the screen with no glare at all in a completely dark room. With the LED book light I have, it has 2 LED's and I only need one turned on, the battery's in that lasts a long time also. I haven't charged my new Kindle 2i in a week and the battery icon is still over 3/4 full!!! Try that with a Laptop, Net-PC, IPHONE, or anything else! I can pick up my Kindle at any time and start reading right where I left off and not worry about the freeken battery.

I can go on Vacation, the Beach and bring my ebook and easily read it like any normal book, but with one hand, and a drink in the other!!! While also looking up a word easily that I don't know, getting the Daily newspaper, ect. If you can read your normal BOOK in low light, you can ALSO read a Eink display in that SAME low light. There is ZERO difference. That's the whole point. You only need a CHEAP book light in a DARK room.

Entelligence: Of ebooks and suburban moms {Engadget}

Nov 1st 2009 9:25PM I love my new Kindle 2i!!! I've charged it once since I've had it!!! That's a week and it still shows a bit over 3/4 of the battery life left. I keep the wireless turned OFF and turn it on briefly every day to automatically grab what's new for that day and then turn it off. the NOOK with it's second screen and not Eink at that seems like a battery drain to me. My cell phone drives me nuts how fast it drains the battery for hardly being used and only for voice calls. I've compared prices on ebooks and Amazon IS the cheapest with B&N coming in Second, and SONY trailing behind with their crazy prices!!! The book wars have helps with ebook prices. For example 'Under the Doom' by Stephen King is also $9.00 for the Kindle version like the Hardcover version now. Normally it would sell for $9.99 when on the Best Seller List for a new release. There's still the long wait for the ebook version, but I have a lot of other books to read.

A ebook is worth it for all the FREE and low cost books you can also get. It's nice that I can go to Wikipedia and other places for FREE where ever I happen to be in the U.S.!!! My home is small, and if I don't have to have books all over the place, that's a huge plus. The Eink display is nice to read and easy on the eye's, and a cheap book light allows you to read in the dark and with no glare. I don't want it doing a bunch of other things. I want it to be GOOD at what it does. I think a Color display is almost Pointless. The books I read aren't in COLOR other the the book cover, and who cares about that. Is it worth the higher price a Eink display would be? Not really. So you can see Color Comics on the Sunday Newspaper Edition? The Grey scale on the Kindle 2 looks pretty good to me.

I don't like the Sony Ebook readers. The Nook looks Interesting with the non Eink color screen which WILL be a battery drain. It has it pluses to the Kindle, but the Kindle has it's own pluses that the NOOK can't do that I would miss. Again the ebooks at B&N are higher priced in general. Competition is a good thing though. With the Nook announcement, Amazon has already stepped it up. I can't wait to see what's in store for the Kindle 3. The ebook will get you reading again just for the enjoyment.

How would you change Sony's PlayStation 3 Slim? {Engadget}

Oct 31st 2009 1:01AM Should have had a built in IR port!!! If Sony wants to keep advertising it as such a great Blu-Ray player it needs a built in IR port as standard as that's what ALL other Audio and Video hardware is using for the most part. What other hardware uses Blue Tooth? NONE. Not even SONY themselves are using it for anything else. How come NONE of Sony's other Blu-Ray players support Blue tooth? A TV? Receiver? To me this is the biggest JOKE about the PS3. 3rd party solutions are dumb.

Samsung shows off color e-paper prototype, PVI might beat it to market in 2010 {Engadget}

Oct 29th 2009 9:07PM Great, not we can see the Book cover in color, and then read all the rest like we do now and add $100-$300 to the price. Why?!?!?! Oh and I just got my Kindle 2i last week. It's great. I like it far better then a normal Paperback. All my books are in one place. I don't loose my place and have to worry about a book mark. I can read with one hand. I can easily look up a word I don't know. I can get a new book no matter where I happen to be at any time. I can subscribe to Newspapers, Magazines, and Blogs. I can grab thousands of FREE ebooks also and about half on my Kindle are FREE right now.

There are MORE Tree's in the U.S. NOW then there ever was!!!! Yes a lot of the old growth forest was cut down, but now Tree's are harvested like any other Crop. It would be kind of dumb to just cut all the tree's down as at some point there's nothing left to cut. It's not about saving the tree's. Paper is recycled also!!!

America's (newest) largest solar plant set to go live in Florida {Engadget}

Oct 25th 2009 4:39PM I'm just wondering, oh sure Solar and Wind are CLEAN and all, I'm not sure about building them in the first place, BUT are you going to be sitting in the DARK at home when the sun goes down and/or the wind stops blowing??? That's the problem with these. You need RELIABLE power 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!!! The ONLY clean reliable Energy at this time is Nuclear Power. Not only that, but the U.S. like some other countries also needs the Ability to Reprocess the so called waste, which isn't waste, but very Valuable and can be Reused. Instead the ECO Wacko's stopped all of that and instead we ended up burning a whole lot more COAL which throws up TONS of Radioactive garbage into the Air. Even the Founder of Green Piece who had to LEAVE because it was taken over by Lawyers now supports Nuclear Power Plants.

Xbox 360 Dashboard Update... updates: Preview program reopened, Sky TV due Oct. 27 {Engadget}

Oct 14th 2009 11:32PM Oh, and the whole Sky TV. See something the UK gets this time that the U.S. doesn't!!!! I'm all for it. I think it's a great addition to the 360 for the people over there. It's also more sales for MS because of that. If MS can add more features to the 360 for a Particular country, they should do it if possible.
