How would you change Apple's iPod touch 2G / nano 4G? {Engadget}

Oct 5th 2008 4:48AM An iPod touch with the capacities you listed could NOT be created for a price even semi-affordable. A 2.5" SSD drive currently costs over $400! Also, you must remember that SSD drives are much thicker than what is used in the iPod touch. The iPod touch simply uses 2 NAND flash memory chips soldered to the motherboard. SSDs have over 10 NAND chips, and a SATA controller allowing them to operate. The technology for a 128GB NAND flash chip would costs thousands just for the memory!

If you were thinking about using a HDD and not NAND flash memory for the iPod touch, than you are just ignorant. Not only would a HDD cause the battery life to be SIGNIFICANTLY shorter, but it would also cause the device to be much thicker. A 256GB 1.5" HDD does not even exist yet, so having that capacity would mean the touch would be much thicker and larger than the iPod classic.

Please stop ignoring facts about memory sizes and battery life and constantly thinking that Apple magically can make huge storage capacity without either the price skyroketting, size increasing, battery life decreasing, or any combination of them.

Macworld: iPod touch gets January apps with 2.0 update {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 14th 2008 2:10AM I am not referring to Pirating the apps themselves, I am just referring to getting the 2.0 upgrade for free like it should be for all iPod touch owners.
