G1's browser getting hijacked like a cab in Liberty City? {Engadget}
Nov 24th 2008 8:35PM From what I've read, this is being caused by some downloaded app that is hacking the browser in the background. That seems the most likely option.
G1 multi-touch a reality, integrated headphone jack still just a dream {Engadget}
Nov 23rd 2008 8:17AM Agreed. I like using my phone one handed, so zooming into maps and webpages with the G1 is easy. But with the iPhone, you need two hands. Multitouch sure looks cool and is a darn good "impress the friends" feature, but for practical use, I don't like it.
HP rumored to be concocting digiframe / slate PC hybrid device {Engadget}
Nov 18th 2008 11:06AM Wow, way to bring back the Audrey! I had one of those back in the day...
Gift Guide: Olympus Stylus 1030 SW {Switched.com}
Nov 18th 2008 12:15AM I got the 7MP version of this for my wife. Identical specs, but only 7MP. And it rocks. Picture quality is very good, but not quite as good as cameras with bigger lenses. But to be able to take the camera literally everywhere and not worry about it is awesome! We take it with us to the beach, to water parks, etc and it stays around my wrist, completely underwater most of the day without issue. I love it.
Poll: What are you snagging on Black Friday? {Engadget HD}
Nov 15th 2008 12:30PM I don't plan on buying anything for myself. Black Friday is a buy-low-to-resell-on-eBay oportunity for me. As such, I will likely pick up a Blu-ray player and see if I can't flip it for a nice profit. :-)
Virgin Mobile USA posts 8% subscriber growth, $4.1 million net profit in Q3 {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 15th 2008 9:36AM I very seriously considered go Helio for the Ocean. It was a real toss up for me. In the end, I decided to go with the G1 and I'm very happy I did. But I still wonder about the Ocean every so often. :-)
Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 review {Engadget Mobile}
Nov 12th 2008 9:12AM Why oh why would they make it a resistive touchscreen? After using the capacitive screen on my G1, I don't think I could ever go back to a resistive. :-(
Also, I understand why they made it a 4 row keyboard (to save space), but, again, why? I type numbers way too often for this to ever work for me.
Nevermind the fact that nobody I know will ever be able to afford it.
New iPhone ad series features wide range of apps {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}
Nov 9th 2008 8:32PM I have Shazam on my G1, but I've heard the program is identical to the iPhone version. I love it and use it a lot. I was at Universal Studios the other day and it correctly identified a song playing over the loudspeakers, even with all the crowd background noise. Very slick!
Epic Android bug interprets your typing as system commands {Engadget}
Nov 8th 2008 9:09PM Yep, definitely reboots. But as far as I know, I've never executed any other random commands by accident. And I could only get it to reboot by pressing Enter, then typing "reboot" then pressing Enter again.
Poll: Has "the economy" shaken your HD purchase plans? {Engadget HD}
Nov 8th 2008 6:06PM I was actually very seriously planning on buying a new TV on Black Friday. Mine is only 720 and I really want a 1080 one. But, yeah, that's not happening now. :-)
