Poll results on type of HDTV {Engadget HD}

Sep 13th 2005 11:25AM As commented on the original post, this survey was a little difficult to understand. I own a Mitsubishi RPTV and I wasn't sure which category to use (it's not DLP or LCD based).

Wider is better for first time ever {Engadget HD}

Aug 25th 2005 9:35AM Post 1. is an accurate summary to most "normal" people's thought processes when they see widescreen material on their 4:3 tubes... "It looks small" my mother would say whereby I would launch into a rant explaining the ratios and how you're seeing the whole movie this way, not just half. Regardless of how good a job I do explaining it they still can't figure out why the black bars are there. "I paid for the whole TV" my dad will inevitably say grumbling about the black bars taking up space where there should be content. "Did you pay for the whole movie?" is my typical response. Then I go home and watch the movie on my widescreen!

Help us help you {Engadget HD}

Aug 15th 2005 4:41PM I don't really use the info in the what's on today posts. I do enjoy reading the site and have even commented on some posts. I'd like to see more "insider" information. How about some interviews with those in the industry (like Mark Cuban)? I also agree with the previous poster, I'd like to see the authors/editors take stances on comparitive technologies, etc. You can clearly label them editorials/opinions if you're concerned about upsetting potential (or existing) advertisers or other revenue streams.

What HDTV shows would you like to see? {Engadget HD}

Aug 3rd 2005 9:31AM I caught BSG in HD on NBC a few weeks ago, man I wish this newest season was in HD. Heck, I'd like to see the news networks start using HD... I enjoy World Report on HDNet but it's not comprehensive coverage.

HDTV calibration on the cheap {Engadget HD}

Aug 1st 2005 11:23AM You've got geometry issues. hometheaterspot.com used to have publicly accessible forums that covered service menus and tweaks to fix such issues, but I think they went to a paid membership setup to view to useful information like this.

Aug 1st 2005 9:56AM I like the idea of an on-going comparison!
