Jul 22nd 2009 9:57AM Hey! If it wasn't for ripping off others company's product, Microsoft wouldn't be in business (Lotus 1-2-3, WordPerfect, dBase, Apple OS, etc., etc.,)! A usual business plan is to make a product as good or better than your competition's and sell it for the same or less.

Far right wing reportedly ready to boycott a newly federalized GM {Autoblog}

Jun 10th 2009 1:50PM I LOVE the comment about how the government is ruining the GM brand!!! Ha! Ha!
The company has been making crappy cars for 40 years and THAT is the main reason the company is up s**t's creek with no paddle. Couple that with the stupid pay that the employees get and one doesn't have to wonder why a smart car buyer would opt for a Camry, Corolla, Accord, Civic, BMW 3 series instead of the garbage that Detroit has been putting out for decades.

No need to start a GM boycott now. I've been boycotting Detroit's products since the mid 60's.

CAW concessions could pave way for Canadian GM bailout {Autoblog}

Mar 9th 2009 3:52PM "The only thing the Big 3 can do to compete with the Asians, especially the Koreans, is to get rid of unionized labor. Before labor laws existed, unions served a purpose. Today, they are only a very expensive liability in a world that no longer needs them. You can't swim with cement shoes."

I couldn't agree more. Listening to Buzz Hargrove or the current union head is a joke. These guys make a LOT of money from union dues and all they want to do is maintain their personal status quos. So they tell the workers what they want to hear and keep living the good lives at the expense of the line workers.

It's time for the whole industry to take a step back and look at the REAL world, not the one they've created for themselves.

CAW concessions could pave way for Canadian GM bailout {Autoblog}

Mar 9th 2009 3:47PM Hi Alex,

Thanks for the civilized response!

You said that "The crises we are in has to do with our industries being shipped over seas and leaving our countries in the name of corporate profit... People no longer SAVE $$$ to buy stuff they buy it on credit, the wealth of North Americans is a false one, as most people do not own their house, cars etc.."

The North American auto industry is not being shipped overseas. The overseas auto market is crushing the N.A. one as a result of their consistently manufacturing superior autos. If N.A. vehicles were as good as foreign ones, I wouldn't hesitate for a second to buy one. However, I've owned 3 domestic ones and they were all dramatically worse than the foreign ones that I've bought since then. Why would I risk buying another?

Secondly, your comment about people not saving to buy stuff anymore does not directly affect the auto industry. If you go to your bank and finance the purchase of a car, the car company gets its money in full immediately. If you subsequently default on your payments, this has no affect on the manufacturers - it's the bank that will pursue you for payment. This extends to the current housing crisis as well. Builders have gotten their money - it's the banks that are in trouble.

Nice chatting.

Mar 9th 2009 3:35PM Yup. I'm ignorant, wouldn't last a minute on an assembly line (I'd shoot myself first!), don't know what I'm talking about, I'm ignorant (that's a real good one!), yada, yada, yada.

Oh, by the way, the average wage for a blue-collar worker at GM is $34/hr., or $68k/yr. So check your facts before making a fool of yourself. http://www.660news.com/news/national/more.jsp?content=n030845A

It's very interesting that none of you brilliant respondents mentioned my comment about GM & Chrysler making lousy cars for the last 40 years! Can't dispute that, can you? If you do, then read the many studies about the qualitative differences between GM, Chrysler, Ford and their foreign competitors published by Edmonds, J.D. Power and others.

I've owned 3 domestics in my many years of driving. They were all problematic and weren't even close to affording the reliability of the 6 imports that I've had since. Even my 2 mediocre VWs were better than the 2 Chryslers and 1 GM junk that I owned.

Oh yes. One more thing. I do work in a "clean" environment. It's amazing what an education can provide.

Mar 8th 2009 8:36PM No! No! No! No!

These fools have been making absolute garbage for 40 years. Their line worker are so ridiculously overpaid, that it's a joke. $40-$80/hr. for high school drop-outs.

PLEASE let GM go out of business. It will certainly incent the other car companies to smarten up and make cars that can compete with imports on a qualitative and price basis.

I live in Toronto and although it will hurt our local economy, I feel that GM's demise would be the best thing for the industry in the long run.
