Google breaks from tradition, posts DROID ad on home page {Engadget Mobile}

Nov 6th 2009 10:11PM I am pretty sure they have put things advertising their own products in that spot before. I know they had a similar link for gmail a year or two ago. Can you guys look into this? Maybe some research would help this non story.

Google hits Android ROM modder with a cease-and-desist letter {Engadget}

Sep 25th 2009 12:01AM Don't user technically have a right to have the google apps anyways? Every android device comes with them. This is stupid. Me downloading a cyanogen rom is not stealing apps. This is not the intention of copyright laws. I own a license to use those apps. I should be able to download them from where ever I want. This is fair use.

Archos 9 Windows 7 tablet does a little hands-on time {Engadget}

Jul 2nd 2009 9:45PM Get an old slate tablet PC. I have a motion computing M1400 that runs windows 7 with 2 gigs of ram and a 1.12 centrino processor. It is about as powerful as netbooks are and about 1" thick with no fans so its almost silent. I didn't like the pen input so I swapped the glass screen with a resistive touch screen. It is now my favorite device for web browsing. This Archos will cost significantly more money, but it looks awesome.

No end in sight for war of the tiniest projector {Engadget}

Nov 4th 2008 7:31AM I guess you guys don't get the Cartman reference there. I thought this post was funny. Almost makes up for the lame first post.

Staples to stock Flexplay self-destructing DVDs {Engadget HD}

Jun 2nd 2008 7:43PM Why would anyone buy these? What advantage do they have over a rental from one of those red boxes in the grocery store? Just the fact that you don't have to bring it back? It cost the same as a regular rental, but they still want you to send it back. What a garbage product.

Metal Gear Solid 4's Kojima explains PS3 comments [update] {Joystiq}

May 13th 2008 7:49AM Isn't expecting it to be great without playing it first biased to begin with?

Toys R Us getting big Wii shipment Sunday {Joystiq}

Apr 24th 2008 9:09AM I just don't understand how anyone can say that the wii is withholding stock. Do you realize that they sell more wii's each month worldwide than PS3's, 360's, and PS2 combined? Maybe they make as many as they can and don't want to be stuck with an extra production line if demand does cool off. Its is an extremely expensive investment to "just make more Wii's." If withholding stock did make a console sell out, then don't you think Sony and Microsoft would do the same thing?

Ask Engadget HD: Does Blu-ray show enough love to 720p HDTV owners? {Engadget HD}

Feb 27th 2008 2:43PM I have a question that I never seem to find an answer to. I have a 1366 x 768 HDTV and an HD DVD player for high def. When I watch a movie like the Matrix that is in the 2.35:1 format what resolution am I actually watching? I know on the screen a good portion of my pixels are going to black bars. Does this cut down the resolution? It appears that I am effectively making the vertical resolution SD. Is this what happens? With this aspect ratio do you see a more noticable jump in PQ when moving to 1080p than you would with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio?

Xbox 360 HD DVD drive now officially $49.99 {Engadget HD}

Feb 25th 2008 4:44PM I don't have any Blu-Ray or HD-DVD's, but I have 400+ DVDs. Right now for $50 I can get a drive that will save my 360 dvd drive from the strain of watching movies. I also use a VGA connection. I have never seen a VGA upscaling dvd player, but this will do it for $50. Mabye some day I will get a blu-ray player or add-on, but I only have a 37" 720p HDTV. The difference between upscaled dvd and blu-ray just isn't worth it to me now. I would buy this drive for $50 if it only upscaled dvd's through a VGA connection. Being able to watch some dirt cheap HD-DVDs is just a bonus.
